Job description

LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management, and public affairs, seeks a senior director to join our research and strategic insights team.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated with an interest in research, insights, and analytics as well as corporate and public policy issues with a laser focus on attention-to-detail. They must be a team player and possess strong written and verbal communications skills as well as interpersonal, research, and project management skills.

This role is client-facing and an avid interest in quantitative and qualitative research, data analytics, and strategic messaging is a must.

LSG?s research and strategic insights practice conducts all quantitative and qualitative research for clients with an emphasis on public opinion research, message testing, creative testing, brand, reputation, and issue tracking, audience segmentation, and campaign tracking and optimization.

This is a hybrid role based in our downtown DC office Monday-Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays. The position requires occasional travel.

Responsibilities
  • Learn, understand, and analyze complex brand, reputation, and public affairs issues for current and potential clients, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to leading trade associations and issue advocacy organizations.
  • Manage and execute quantitative research projects with responsibilities including, but not limited to, drafting surveys, proofreading and editing, analyzing data, ensuring accurate outputs, identifying key insights, and drafting detailed PowerPoint analysis reports for clients.
  • Manage and execute qualitative research projects with responsibilities including, but not limited to, development of participant and moderator materials, attending and eventually moderating client focus groups most often in the evening, conducting in-depth interviews, sharing detailed notes and uncovering audience insights, and drafting post-research analysis reports for clients.
  • Conduct in-depth research of key business and public affairs issues and messaging from clients, competitors, and key stakeholders. The ability to quickly absorb, retain, and critically apply information about clients, competitors, and relevant market dynamics you may be initially unfamiliar with is essential.
  • Write, edit, and proofread client-facing materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Lead reporting to internal teams and clients, including the management of weekly reports, updates, and post-research materials.
  • Closely manage progress-to-goal on client accounts to ensure target objectives are on-track to be met and to identify areas of weakness/underperformance.
  • Participate in the new business process, including research and proposal drafting.
Qualifications
  • B.A. or master?s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in market research, polling, data analytics, audience segmentation, communications, public affairs, marketing, and/or relevant political campaign/government experience.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including attention to grammatical detail, clarity, speed, and accuracy, as well as creative abilities to draft and develop fresh, original content.
  • Strong research and analytics skills required and experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, Stata, Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Familiarity and comfortability working with AI tools and LLMs and a willingness to advance AI-driven products and solutions.
  • Confidence interacting, communicating, and presenting to clients, other consultants, and corporate executives.
  • Proficient and comfortable managing complex projects and producing client deliverables in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Docs.
  • Ability to adapt communications styles to cultural environments and incorporate the perspectives of multiple communities?in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of policy proposals.
  • Team player, willingness to take the initiative when needed, and works well independently as well as in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
