Job description

Job Summary:

Mobility City Technicians deliver, repair and setup mobility equipment in customers’ home. Technicians also instruct customers in the use of equipment. Technicians may also remove used or damaged equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and supplies to customers home and perform install/setup up tasks.

• Instruct customer on proper use of equipment.

• Evaluate malfunctioning/broken equipment and recommend a repair/solution. Document the repair and solution. If additional arts are needed beyond initial service call, document as needed.

• Install new/repaired parts to restore equipment to proper safe, working order.

• Read and understand the service call requirements (e.g., Location, obstacles/challenges to install setup, payor information, etc.) prior to arrival.

• Ensure home environment/space is safe for delivery, install and use of equipment.

• Obtain signature from customer on delivery/install paperwork and update systems.

• Pick up and remove equipment from customers’ residence if requested. Generally, as part of the service call.

• Clean and sanitize equipment in accordance with Mobility City policy and guidelines.

• Comply with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances that apply to you and Mobility City.

• Participate in continuing education/training in-services relative to products that Mobility City sells, delivers and services.

• Offer support on the showroom floor by assisting customers and ansering phone calls as needed.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED.

• Current valid driver’s license.

• Pass criminal background check and drug screen.

• Communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in using personal computers, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.

Skills Required:

Technical Troubleshooting & Diagnostic Skills – Ability to systematically diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with motorized wheelchairs, scooters, lift chairs, and other mobility equipment. Must be able to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

Electrical & Mechanical Aptitude – Understanding of basic electrical wiring, battery systems, motors, and circuit boards.

Hand & Power Tool Proficiency – Skilled in using tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and drills for repair and installation of parts.

Problem-Solving Ability – Capable of assessing mechanical failures and determining appropriate repair strategies, including part replacements, adjustments, and calibrations.

Preventative Maintenance Knowledge – Understanding of proper maintenance procedures, including battery care, motor servicing, and lubrication of moving parts to extend equipment longevity.

Attention to Detail & Documentation – Ability to accurately record diagnostics, repairs performed, and parts used in service logs.

Customer Service & Communication – Strong ability to explain repair procedures to customers in a clear and professional manner, ensuring they understand equipment functionality and care.

Regulatory Compliance Awareness – Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and ADA compliance as they pertain to mobility equipment.
