Job Title

EHS Technician

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is searching for an EHS Technician to help drive the EHS&S (Environmental, Health, Safety, & Security) process at Plant RP/RR. Facilitate training of all levels of associates, in EHS programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend or conduct EHS related periodic departmental and plant meetings as well as training that will foster continued job improvement.
  • Understand and utilize Shaw systems (SAFE/SMS/SES/Job Procedures/Process Improvements, etc.).
  • Monitor for unsafe conditions, behaviors and work to change those behaviors.
  • Attend management meetings to provide updates on EHS progress.
  • Give positive and constructive feedback to all levels of associates.
  • Work with Plant Management and production associates to develop and maintain a work environment that supports continuous improvement with regard to safety, quality, environmental procedures, and productivity.
  • Participate in EHS compliance audits.
  • Act as EHS liaison between hourly and salaried associates.
  • Maintain Records retention, files, electronic or otherwise for EHS compliance.
  • Maintain SharePoint files and site organization
  • Schedule and track Waste removal work orders and purchase orders
  • Purchasing of necessary supplies as directed by leadership
  • Provide the Plant Safety Orientation for new hires
  • Give directions and guidance for assigned EHS projects.
  • Set the standard for adherence to all known EHS rules 100% of the time.
  • Conduct EHS Compliance assessments and inspections.
  • Must be able to provide training at various times day or night servicing all shifts.
  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • Occasionally travel to other locations or facilities.
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative environment that fosters teamwork.
  • Must be able to provide support for facility events/functions.
  • Manage plant safety systems such as safety shoes, safety glasses, PEO team, SERVE classes, AccuWeather, safety supplies, Safety Champions, and other systems.
  • Conduct SPCC and SWPPP monthly and quarterly analysis/testing and documentation
  • Be a backup to the EHS Manager and navigate Workforce as well as be the contact for the EHS Utilities.
  • Be a backup to the ACT and help with authorized training.
  • Be a resource for Brady with knowledge of lockout tagout.
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance

Qualifications:

  • Communication and public speaking training and/or experience along with willingness to speak and teach a class in front of groups is essential.
  • Exceptional listening, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Computer literacy - Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Google
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Must be willing to work off shift when necessary. This may be for extended periods of time.
  • Must be familiar with the use of office equipment such as calculators, computers, copy and fax machines, video recording equipment / cameras, and video processing with PowerPoint.
  • Must be familiar with the use of EHS equipment, confined space monitors, dosimeters, Etc.

Education:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
