Job description

Course Operation:
Daniel Island Club consists of two golf courses, Beresford Creek (Tom Fazio Design) and Ralston Creek (Rees Jones Design). Beresford Creek completed an extensive renovation to include bunkers (capillary concrete) and conversion of all tees, fairways and approaches to Latitude 36 Bermudagrass. Ralston Creek will complete an extensive renovation in 2019 to include bunkers (capillary concrete), conversion of tees, fairways and approaches to Latitude 36 and greens renovation (TifEagle). The Practice Facilities include a state-of-the-art Teaching Facility, over ten acres of maintained turf to include front and back practice tees and short game area.

Duties:

The Equipment Operator performs work involving the use of small and large mowing and maintenance equipment including tractors, loaders, walk mowers, riding mowers, turf vehicles, and a variety of other maintenance equipment in a manner to achieve the clubโ€™s extremely high level of quality and service expectation.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to safely operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
  • Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline engines.
  • Knowledge of maintenance tools.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and other equipment.
  • Ability to comprehend and learn tasks associated with golf course construction/maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
  1. Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
  2. Good hand / eye coordination along with mechanical aptitude.
  3. Ability to work in an outside environment that can have extremes in temperature and light to moderate rainfall.
  4. Ability to lift a 50 pound bag of fertilizer or seed.
  5. Ability to operate, maneuver and walk behind a mower for several hours at a time.
  6. High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  7. SCDL preferred but not required.
  8. Some knowledge of the game of golf, or the ability to learn and understand key aspects of the game that help job performance.
  9. Ability to work weekend rotation schedule.
