Job description

Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated, hardworking irrigation technician to join our maintenance staff at the Wisconsin Country Club. This is a seasonal position from April-November with shifts typically Monday-Friday beginning between 5:00 and 5:30 AM; however, this position can be flexible in shift duration and timing. This role will assist with the morning preparation of the golf course while also taking the lead on irrigation repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance to help ensure the golf course is properly maintained and presented each day.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the morning setup and preparation of the golf course, including tasks such as course setup, moisture management, and other daily maintenance assignments.
  • Take the lead on irrigation system repairs and troubleshooting throughout the property.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation heads, valves, pipes, wiring, controllers, and related components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the irrigation system to minimize downtime and improve performance.
  • Monitor system performance and identify issues related to coverage, pressure, leaks, drainage, or equipment failure.
  • Assist in scheduling and adjusting irrigation run times based on weather conditions, soil moisture, and course needs.
  • Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to support water management goals and overall turf health.
  • Maintain accurate records of irrigation repairs, parts usage, and maintenance activities.
  • Operate irrigation tools, hand tools, and light equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with other golf course maintenance tasks and improvement projects as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • Previous experience with irrigation repair, maintenance, or a similar mechanical or technical role preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of irrigation systems, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, and water management practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair irrigation-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with golf course irrigation systems.
  • Familiarity with irrigation controllers, central control systems, and moisture management practices.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with PVC repair, wiring, and valve troubleshooting.
  • Experience working on a golf course, private club, or similar high-end property.
  • Knowledge of basic turfgrass practices and the role irrigation plays in course conditions and playability.
