Summary:

The Tech Designer should be highly motivated, meticulous with details, and driven by the technical aspects of the design process. The position requires the maintenance of established fits within the same bodies through measuring garments, logging in all information related to the garment, and growing/maintaining the block library. Capable of juggling multiple deadlines and tasks to meet deadlines. This position works within the technical design team, led by the Director of Design to maintain processes and upkeep of fit logs and deadlines.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with Design and corresponding teams to determine fit and priorities to meet timelines
  • Building and maintaining technical specifications for assigned products e.g., BOM, construction, measurements, cutting, packaging, and associated technical images, etc. according to established criteria.
  • Building and maintaining patterns from concept prototypes through final fit approval.
  • Learn to work with Merchandising/Design to determine and maintain appropriate fit for assigned products.
  • Complete technical specifications and patterns according to deadlines.
  • Track and monitor progress of Fit samples, Size Set samples and Pre Production samples in relation to deadlines.
  • Participate in evaluating Fit samples, Size Set samples and Pre Production samples for fit, measurement and construction accuracy and quality.
  • Participate in maintaining consistency of technical design and product creation processes.
  • Create/establish initial specs based on existing body blocks to uphold their aesthetic for fit and silhouette; including measurements, construction details, and technical sketches.
  • Maintain the block library per style after approvals have been sent.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of technical design or related experience within the apparel industry is required
  • Experience in sewing/pattern making and mocking up clothing is strongly preferred
  • Some experience in pattern design software or 3D Clothing mockup software (e.g. Marvelous Designer, Blender, etc.) is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required
    Proficiency in Photoshop and other Adobe suite products is preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Product Development, Fashion Design, Buying, Tech Design, or Merchandising is a plus, but not required.
