As a member of our Global Team you will support the workplace transformation within a wide range of facilities that GM has around the world. You will work with an industry leading team that designs, builds/constructs, and maintains facilities and building assets for vast operating functions. Doing so in a safe, compliant, cost-efficient manner that utilizes advanced technology to support social & ecological sustainability. We create the future and not just plan for it!

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to our Kokomo, Indiana location on a full-time basis. This role may require off-shift or overtime work

What You'll Do:

  • Manage substation maintenance program:

  • Act as am Electrical SME

  • Create/Manage Non-Portfolio Projects

  • Support plant & facilities maintenance with utility issues throughout the plant (utility quality / distribution issues). Lead communications regarding Utility (internal & external) and Production utility disruption notifications.

  • Maintain strong Utility Company interface and coordination regarding consistent service, scheduled and non-scheduled disruptions. Lead Root Cause analysis development for External Utility Company disruptions.

  • Resource for engineering services for all facility related systems. Serve as technical liaison for Sustainable Workplace (Facilities) Operations

  • Support 3rd party contract management activities

  • Act as the owner and is responsible for all architectural, electrical, or mechanical categories relating to forecasting, planning, and executing asset sustainment plans and strategies, accountable for facility condition assessments.

  • Responsible to manage and ensure all critical facility drawings for site are maintained current and accurate including but not limited to: revise construction documents to "as-built" conditions, coordinating with the appropriate GM personnel for updating GM Master Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) files and archiving projects as required to and support common processes for document management during and after project execution.

  • Responsible for the execution of and compliance to the Project Delivery Tool (PDT) Program Manager (PDPM) for their responsible portfolio and projects. High cost and / or high complexity projects requiring engineering.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 3+ years in design, maintenance, and operation of industrial building electrical systems

  • Experience in project planning, engineering, and execution

  • Experience with low voltage power distribution

  • Knowledge of energy systems, medium voltage power distribution, fluid power, or energy conversion preferred.

  • Experience in managing salaried and/or hourly personnel preferred.

  • High level of negotiating skills to resolve issues with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • High level of analytical skills to evaluate and resolve operational problems while working independently.

  • Computer skills including competency in office software and electronic information systems.

  • Proficient use of AutoCAD

  • Able to manage projects within budget and with multiple suppliers, contractors or other GM units.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 5+ of experience as Facilities Engineer

  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E

  • Experience in substation maintenance

  • Experience in project planning, engineering, and execution

  • Experience with low voltage power distribution

  • BS Electrical Engineering (MS/professional certifications preferred)
