Job description

Meta's Global Security organization is dedicated to protecting the people, assets, and reputation of Meta across our worldwide operations. The Global Security Area Manager plays a critical leadership role in reducing physical security risk, directing on-site security teams, and executing global physical security programs. In this role, you will build cross-functional partnerships across Meta's operational teams, cultivate relationships with law enforcement and government agencies, and ensure that physical security strategies align with Meta's broader organizational goals.
Global Security Area Manager Responsibilities:
  • Lead and provide management oversight of the on-site physical security program, ensuring alignment with Global Security policies, protocols, standard operating procedures, and post orders
  • Serve as a trusted security advisor within the site leadership structure, participating in strategic decisions that drive site-based operations, resourcing, and risk mitigation
  • Provide security leadership direction for all site-based events, maintaining a strategic plan to support ongoing operations, projects, and construction milestones
  • Collaborate with the Global Security Operations Center and the Global Security Investigations and Intelligence team to anticipate, identify, and evaluate emerging physical security risks
  • Execute physical security strategies encompassing business conduct and integrity standards, employee safety, investigations, crisis response, and business continuity planning
  • Leverage AI tools to optimize physical security workflows, enhance threat detection capabilities, and drive measurable improvements in security operations
  • Manage the site security budget and quarterly forecast in accordance with annual planning guidance and leadership direction
  • Ensure security vendor compliance with staffing requirements, including recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining qualified security personnel in accordance with the statement of services
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, third-party vendors, and community organizations to support site security objectives
  • Communicate security updates, incident reports, and emerging risk assessments to site leadership and key cross-functional partners on a regular basis

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of site or campus physical security management experience
  • Experience leading security teams and managing third-party security vendors in complex operational environments
  • Experience in emergency and disaster management, critical incident response, risk management, and business resiliency planning
  • Experience with physical security technologies including video surveillance systems, access control platforms, incident management systems, and security operations centers
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis, benchmarking security programs, and interpreting security data to inform operational decisions
  • Experience developing and presenting security briefings and reports to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience integrating AI tools to optimize security workflows and drive measurable operational improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Physical security management experience in a data center, critical infrastructure, or large-scale campus environment
  • Demonstrated ongoing development in emerging security technologies and AI-assisted tools, including prompt engineering and agent-based workflow automation
