Job description

Overview

Protective Security Officers (PSO) perform Security Administrative Services supporting the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's Eastern Currency Facility (ECF).  The ECF is a high security facility providing physical security for the protection of BEP securities, its personnel and visitors. PSOs will work closely with BEP employees in the Office of Security, providing support of the ECF's access control. 

Responsibilities

What You'll Get to Do in This Role:

  • Ensure safety and compliance by following all company policies, procedures, and government regulations while performing duties in a safe and professional manner.
  • Maintain a professional presence, arriving in proper uniform with issued equipment and keeping both in clean, serviceable condition.
  • Perform armed security functions, including access control, traffic management, patrols, inspections, and the authorized use of force when necessary.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively via radio, telephone, and in person, while following all general and special orders for assigned posts.
  • Demonstrate readiness and reliability, including physical fitness, firearms proficiency, and availability to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned to support mission-critical security operations and organizational needs.
Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Armed Virginia DCJS armed security license required.
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
  • Graduate of a recognized law enforcement or military security training academy.
  • Pass annual Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) test and firearms qualification (9mm semi-auto pistol).
  • Meet all legal requirements for Armed Security Guard roles.
  • Clear background check, including DOJ Security Risk Assessment and NACI.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
