Job description

Position: Global Product Line Manager

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (AI hardware, Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a high energy Global Product Line Manager to join our team located in Santa Clara, CA.

The Global Product Line Manager will be responsible for the full P&L for the existingportfolio. This includes aggressively growing revenue and driving the development of new markets and customers. The candidate will work closely with the global Amphenol sales team to identify, develop, and capture business opportunities worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate and execute a strategy to launch and grow the assigned major product line, including setting the strategic vision for the assigned product line, building and maintaining product roadmaps, translating market/customer needs into product definitions/requirements and developing go-to-market strategies.
  • Drive new business development in new markets and customers for assigned product line and pursuing expanded opportunities in Amphenol's existing customer base.
  • Work closely with global sales, field application engineering and marketing teams to develop tools and support material to facilitate new design wins.
  • Drive product training and sales promotions to prospect new opportunities.
  • Understand current industry applications and map future industry trends and translate into a product plan.
  • Obtain and use analysis of competitors and competitor products. Identify and implement actions to outperform competition and develop pricing strategies.
  • Work with global cross-functional teams like engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to drive the growth and customer satisfaction of the assigned product line, including value engineering initiatives, customized designs to meet customer requirements, managing quality issues, etc.
  • Understand customers' technology needs, strategic direction and how the Cable Backplane team can be positioned with a value solution to meet the customer's needs.
  • Think and act as a business owner, forecasting bookings/revenues pricing strategies, performing competitive analysis, and evaluating key capital investment ROI.
  • Own the business plan for designated product family through:
    • Life cycle management/rationalization, PCNs
    • Cost, pricing and margin management
    • Capacity planning management
    • Involvement in NPD and Product Extension projects
    • NBO and Incremental track and management
  • Initiate AR justification for new product development and extension by rationalizing investment versus business potentials, risk analysis, and payback optimization.
  • Fully target site KPIs for sales revenue achievement, product margin improvement on cost reduction, negative margin improvement, design win, and shortening response time to quote.
  • Attend event shows to promote the product and assist in developing marketing material.
  • This position requires local and international travel for customer visits, field engagements, and product development meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required, with an MBA/MS preferred
  • 2+ years of product management and business development experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in the interconnect industry preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Effective use of Microsoft office (Excel and PowerPoint specifically)
  • Ability to integrate with cross-functional teams globally and a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" to get the job done
