This position reports to:
Business Controller
Your role and responsibilities:
This Operations Controller position for Motion High Power is responsible for all finance related matters supporting plant operations. The role serves as a key representative of the organization in external interactions and ensures full compliance with applicable legal requirements, corporate standards, and internal policies.
In addition, the Operations Controller acts as a strategic finance business partner to the Local Division Manager for Motion High Power, contributing to the success of Wisconsin Operations by enhancing process efficiencies, strengthening internal controls related to operational activities, and enabling informed decision-making through robust financial insights and strong business acumen.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid in New Berlin, WI.
This role is contributing to the Motion High Power Business Line in New Berlin, WI.
Your role and responsibilities:
  • Partner closely with the Director of Operations and functional leaders across production, supply chain, planning and fulfillment, quality, engineering, and warehousing to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead the business planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes for local operations, including evaluating the financial impact of strategic, tactical, and operational decisions, developing scenario analyses, and recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide analytical insights and transparency across logistics, production, supply chain, and warehousing to support profitable and sustainable organizational growth.
  • Recommend strategies to improve Net Working Capital and oversee warranty, excess, and obsolescence provisions.
  • Ensure strong local governance by maintaining compliance with corporate standards, policies, regulatory requirements, and legal obligations, while executing financial and defined non-financial internal controls.
  • Support Local Division Controller for the Motion High Power with period-end closing activities, over/under absorption analysis, and product costing.
  • Facilitate timely, effective communication with key stakeholders to identify issues, propose solutions, and enhance operational performance, work quality, and efficiency.
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations from both internal and external auditors to relevant organizational parties and drive the implementation of required remediation actions.
  • Serve as the audit lead for the annual physical inventory and support ongoing inventory control processes.
  • Act as the local ERP power user, providing expertise, coordinating external audits, and supporting internal audit activities.

Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Controlling, Accounting, or a related field and 8+ years of experience in a controlling, accounting, or operational finance function within a manufacturing environment.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or CMA are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in SAP ERP and Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI or other business intelligence platforms is a strong plus and will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Strong financial acumen, with additional value placed on experience supporting factory operations or familiarity with operational processes.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach challenges with an open mind, apply analytical thinking, and persist in driving long-term solutions.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and streamlining financial and controlling processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels within the organization.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
