Purpose & Scope:
The Head of Global MAP (Market Access and Public Affairs) Strategic Brands & NPP is responsible for shaping and driving Astellas's Market Access Strategy across the lifecycle of its assets. This role ensures alignment with organizational goals, maximizes portfolio value, and supports sustainable market access to optimize patient outcomes and drive business growth in global and regional markets.
This leader will oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of Market Access strategies for strategic brands, new product planning (NPP, and the Precision Medicine portfolio. They will lead a high-performing team, providing strategic guidance to ensure effective collaboration across Asset Maximization Teams (AMTs), Global Core Commercial Teams (GCTs), Value Evidence, Medical Affairs, and regional stakeholders.
Additionally, the Head will spearhead Market Access Excellence initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance capabilities and execution at both global and local levels. By fostering collaboration and innovation, this leader will ensure Astellas remains at the forefront of Market Access strategy, delivering measurable impact across its portfolio and supporting the organization's long-term success.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Shape Astellas's Market Access Strategy and NPP across the lifecycle of its assets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and identifying future opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of direct reports to develop, implement, and monitor the success of global Market Access strategies and NPP
  • Drive the Market Access Strategy for strategic brands, proactively identifying opportunities and ensuring efficient collaboration with Asset Maximization Teams (AMTs) Global Core Commercial Teams (GCTs), Value Evidence, Medical Affairs, and regional stakeholders.
  • Oversee the New Product Planning (NPP) Market Access Strategy, ensuring its integration into future asset acquisitions and representing the Market Access perspective in deal negotiations, analyses, and KACHI committee discussions.
  • Shape the Market Access Strategy for the Precision Medicine portfolio, identifying future opportunities and ensuring effective collaboration with AMTs, GCTs, Value Evidence, Medical Affairs, and regional stakeholders.
  • Lead Global Market Access Excellence initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance Market Access capabilities and execution at both global and regional/local levels, ensuring alignment with global brand needs and regional market requirements.
  • Provide strategic guidance to direct reports, including the Leads of Global MAx Strategic Brands, Global MAx NPP, Precision Medicine & BD, to ensure the successful development and execution of their respective Market Access strategies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree required (e.g., M.S., MBA, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent) from a globally recognized institution.
  • Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including at least 15 years in market access, pricing strategy, Health Economics and/or related commercial roles.
  • Proven leadership and managerial experience, with a minimum of 5 to 7 years in relevant direct people management, including hiring, training, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing global Market Access strategies across the lifecycle of assets, including strategic brands, new product planning, and precision medicine portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of global Market Access frameworks, payer requirements, and healthcare systems, with experience in deal negotiations and asset acquisition processes.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in a global, matrixed environment and engaging cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of Value Evidence, Medical Affairs, and their integration into Market Access strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in business English.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%), including outside normal working hours.

Salary Range:
$311,000-$415,000 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations)
