Starting Pay: $19-20/hr




Position Summary: Operate forklift to assist in the processing of fruit.


Responsibilities:

  • Load & offload trucks sorting bins and staging for production.
  • Document arriving & departing trucks or loads.
  • Move incoming materials to proper location or storage area.
  • Label and prepare loads for shipment.
  • Conduct inventory on fruit product and plant supplies.
  • Introduce the raw material into the process and orderly disposition of empty fruit bins.
  • Maintain a safe and courteous driving attitude.
  • Others duties as assigned. 


Position that backs up this role during absence: Any other trained employee.


 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

The following requirements are those that are normally required for performance of the Forklift position. Any disabled applicant or incumbent who does not meet one or more of the requirements, but who can perform the essential function of the job (with or without reasonable accommodations) shall be deemed to meet these requirements.


Role in Food Safety: Follow plant GMP’s at all times, ensure work area is secure and monitor and document fruit receiving CCP.


 

A. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to turn head to look right/left as well as up and down.
  • Ability to steer using steering wheel.
  • Ability to move right arm/hand forward and backwards to move the gear that moves forks up and down.
  • Ability to apply pressure on gas and brake pedals using right and left legs/feet.
  • Ability to get on and off the forklift several times per day (fueling, do paperwork).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

B. Non-Physical Requirements:


  1. Education:
  • High school diploma or GED


  1. Experience: 
  • Minimum one year experience in the fruit industry preferred.
  • Experience with forklifts and bin dumpers preferred.


  1. Special Skills:
  • Ability to high stack bins.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Ability to work any shift.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Personally invested in the success of the business.
  • Motivated, focused, and accountable for results


  1. Licensure, Registration, Certification:
  • Forklift Driver Training


5. External Relationships:

  • None


6. Internal Relationships:

  • The forklift driver must interact and communicate effectively with all employees of the organization. 


7. Direct & Indirect Reports:

  • There are no direct or indirect reports.


8. Backup:

  • Backup for Forklift Driver would be another qualified Forklift Driver from the same shift or different shifts to cover the 8-hour shift.

Hours are from 3pm-11:30pm
