Job description

SUMMARY: The Pulliam Center for International Education (PCIE) offers students various opportunities to develop a broadened perspective and a heightened appreciation of a culture other than their own through the John Belk International Program (JBIP). The PCIE also supports the more than 200 international students from over 50 countries that study at Queens. This is a 9-month (can be up to 12 months upon mutual agreement), up to 20 hours/week renewable Graduate Assistantship that reports directly to the Assistant Director of Global Experiences at the Pulliam Center for International Education. The GA position begins on August 12, 2026.

The successful candidate must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte. There is no expressed or implied commitment to a paid position upon completion of the assistantship. This role is eligible for tuition remission for up to two courses per semester (that you are actively working as a Graduate Assistant). No stipend or housing is offered.

Areas Learning and Application:

  • Learn and practice cross-cultural communication and engagement strategies through outreach to diverse international student populations
  • Develop skills in event planning and coordination by supporting and leading programs such as International Student Orientation, JBIP Reveal Party, and International Education Week
  • Gain experience in digital marketing and content creation using tools like Canva to support social media and outreach
  • Strengthen administrative and organizational skills through email and inbox management, data entry, and resource development
  • Learn and apply student support strategies by responding to queries and presenting information about international education opportunities
  • Practice public speaking and presentation skills through hosting information sessions and delivering presentations
  • Develop an understanding of international student services and study abroad operations within a higher education context

Degree Alignment:

  • Master of Communication (PLO 2, 3, 4, 5)
  • Master of Business Administration (PLO 2, 3, 4, 5)
  • Master in Talent and Organization Development (PLO 2, 3, 4, 5)

Qualifications

  • Ability to interact with a diverse population and quickly establish and maintain strong rapport
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation); proficiency in a language other than English is a plus
  • Familiarity with F-1 student visa regulations preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
  • Must be a current, full-time graduate student in Communication, Business Administration or Master in Talent and Organization Development at Queens University of Charlotte
