About the CLTI Internship Program

This is not a traditional internship. The CLTI Internship Program is a structured 12-week experience that combines real-world work with professional development. You will contribute directly to CLTI's growth while building transferable skills, a portfolio of real deliverables, and the career readiness to thrive in your next opportunity.


Position Summary

We are looking for a mission-driven, proactive Business Development Intern (Partnerships & Donors) to join our team. In this role, you will build and manage an active outreach pipeline to identify and connect with potential nonprofit partners and donor organizations that align with CLTI's mission. Your work will directly contribute to expanding CLTI's reach and impact across underserved communities.


This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit business development, strategic outreach,and relationship management- in a real organization, with real results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify potential partner organizations and donor organizations aligned with CLTI's mission
  • Execute structured outreach campaigns to build and maintain an active pipeline
  • Track and document all outreach activity and pipeline progress
  • Communicate professionally with external stakeholders and manage follow-up conversations
  • Support meeting scheduling and participate progressively in partner and donor meetings
  • Submit weekly progress updates and participate in team meetings
  • Complete a final capstone presentation summarizing results, learnings, and recommendations


Learning Objectives

By the end of the 12-week program, you will be able to:

  • Execute a full business development outreach cycle independently
  • Apply effective cold outreach strategies to engage potential partners and donors at scale
  • Communicate professionally with external stakeholders in written and verbal formats
  • Analyze outreach data and present pipeline results to leadership
  • Translate your internship experience into portfolio-ready deliverables and resume bullet points


Program Deliverables

Throughout the 12 weeks, you will produce:

  • Documented outreach pipeline covering both partner and donor prospecting
  • End-of-phase pipeline reports with results and key learnings
  • Final capstone presentation


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Passionate about CLTI's mission and committed to social impact
  • Strong written communication skills- you can write clearly, professionally, and with personality
  • Organized and detail-oriented- you keep records accurate and up to date without being reminded
  • Self-motivated and proactive- you take initiative and go beyond what is asked
  • Comfortable conducting research and sending cold outreach at volume
  • Communicates openly- if something comes up, you say so instead of going silent
  • Prior experience in sales, fundraising, business development, or nonprofit work is a plus but not required
  • Students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals are encouraged to apply

  • Format: Remote
  • Schedule: Flexible, approximately 20 hours per week
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Compensation: Volunteer / unpaid internship
  • Meeting commitment: Weekly team meeting + onboarding session (Week 1 only)
