Office Assistant — Business Development & Logistics

Role summary

We’re hiring an Office Assistant (Business Development & Logistics) to support day-to-day operations and help drive growth. This is a hands-on, on-site role that blends order processing, packing/shipping, returns, event coordination support, and business development assistance. You’ll need to be comfortable with numbers, systems, and moving quickly between office work and physical fulfillment tasks.

Pay, schedule, and location

• Pay: $17–$25 per hour (based on experience)

• Schedule: Monday–Friday

• Work setting: On-site (New Jersey)

Key responsibilities

Operations, logistics, and fulfillment

• Process orders for single-unit and bulk/mass quantities; ensure accuracy across SKUs, quantities, and shipping details.

• Pack and ship orders; coordinate pickups and shipments; maintain organized shipping supplies and workflow.

• Process returns and exchanges; document reasons for return and flag recurring issues.

• Support inventory-related tasks as needed (counts, organization, basic tracking).

Event coordination support

• Support event planning and execution by coordinating logistics and supplies.

• Book travel arrangements (transportation, lodging, schedules) for events and business needs.

• Assist with event readiness: checklists, packing, materials coordination, and post-event wrap-up.

Business development support

• Assist with day-to-day tasks that support business relationship growth (retail partners, community partners, vendors).

• Maintain organized records for contacts, follow-ups, and partner-related documentation.

• Help prepare materials for outreach and partner communication (quotes, order forms, basic reporting).

People support (gig staff)

• Help recruit, hire, and train gig staff for events and short-term needs.

• Coordinate schedules and ensure staff have clear expectations and training materials.

Administrative + financial competence

• Handle basic administrative tasks with strong attention to detail.

• Support financial accuracy: tracking expenses for travel/events, maintaining receipts, and ensuring cost-aware decisions.

Required skills and qualifications

• Strong math skills and comfort working with quantities, pricing, and basic cost tracking

• Strong computer skills; able to learn tools quickly and maintain clean, accurate records

• Working knowledge of logistics/fulfillment (shipping workflows, packing standards, accuracy checks)

• Highly organized; able to manage multiple moving parts without dropping details

• Comfortable with hands-on work (packing/shipping, preparing event materials)

• Clear communicator; professional and dependable

Nice-to-have

• Experience with ecommerce/retail operations (order management, shipping platforms, inventory tools)

• Experience coordinating travel or events

• Experience hiring/training temporary or event staff

• Familiarity with pet products or consumer goods

What success looks like (first 60–90 days)

• Orders are processed and shipped accurately with fewer last-minute issues

• Returns are handled quickly and documented consistently

• Event logistics and travel booking run smoothly and cost-consciously

• Gig staff are onboarded with clear training and expectations

• Partner/admin records are organized and easy to use for follow-up and growth
