Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
We are a leading and innovative provider of corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting services (Scopes 1, 2 and 3), delivered by a global team of practitioners and led by industry-recognized experts. We deploy start-of-the-art technologies for data collection, carbon footprint development and data visualization, via Anthesis' proprietary GHG accounting platform, Anthesis Intelligence. In parallel we offer complementary advisory services that support our clients throughout their net zero journey, in such areas as climate action plan development, carbon markets, renewable energy, climate risk and ESG strategy. We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Consultant to support our GHG Accounting service in North America. Your role will be to support and/or manage advisory projects while also supporting business development efforts, related to Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG inventories. Your projects and clients may span a diverse set of industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands and start-ups. You will collaborate with our teams of consultants and subject matter experts to ensure clients receive our best solutions and technical advice. You will be joining an engaged, collaborative community that approaches its work with energy and optimism.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of GHG inventory services, including calculating operational Scope 1&2 emissions and value chain Scope 3 emissions, conducting FLAG GHG accounting, supporting voluntary and regulatory compliance advisory for GHG emissions reporting, and conducting peer benchmarking.
  • You are expected to manage and navigate large sets of client data, and run complex GHG calculations and data analytics, using Anthesis' proprietary GHG accounting platform, Anthesis Intelligence, as well as additional tools, including various Excel-based tools.
  • Act as a project manager for small projects across their lifecycle and be responsible for these projects providing high value to our client while being on time and budget.
  • Draft reports and presentations that convey key messages and inform strategic decision making.
  • Share your technical expertise on GHG leading practices, standards, and trends with clients as well as colleagues, incorporating this knowledge into consulting projects, proposals and the evolution of new services.
  • Support the development and delivery of proposals, demonstrating an understanding of the client's business needs and goals.
  • By delivering high-quality work and GHG inventories, support the development of a trusted advisor relationship with clients, with a relentless focus on helping them be successful in defining and achieving their sustainability goals.
  • Engage with the global expert community across Anthesis to support the evolution and development of new service product offerings and solutions related to GHG accounting, by supporting and/or leading strategic internal activities.
  • Support the implementation of quality management processes within the GHG Accounting service line and conduct QA/QC reviews of GHG inventories.

Key Requirements & Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, mathematics, engineering, science, economics or related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in corporate GHG emissions accounting across multiple sectors, acquired either in a consultancy environment (preferred) or in-house.
  • Proficiency in calculating and reporting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, with demonstrated knowledge of the GHG Protocol, including setting inventory boundaries, accounting for renewable energy, accounting for supply chain emissions using multiple approaches (EEIO, LCA, supplier-specific data); additional experience with accounting for FLAG emissions preferred.
  • Understanding of Life Cycle Assessments and Product Carbon Footprints.
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting and reporting standards and programs (e.g., ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, TCR).
  • Knowledgeable about current and emerging policy and regulatory drivers of GHG emissions disclosure and management in North America and globally.
  • Knowledgeable about, and experience with a subset of, carbon management enterprise software solutions.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience with third-party audits of GHG inventories, and with auditors/assurance providers.
  • Experience in broader ESG strategy, data analytics, and/or preparation of corporate disclosures (CDP, GRI, SASB) a plus.
