Position Type: Paid Internship, Full-time (40h/week), Part-time (25-30h/week)

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc. (GACC South) is part of the global network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad. We support German and American companies through business development, member engagement, events, consulting services, workforce development programs, and transatlantic market expertise.

With offices in Atlanta and Houston, and a regional presence across the Southern United States, GACC South connects companies, leaders, and institutions across the German-American business community.

What This Role Is Really About

This role supports how GACC South tells its story and communicates its value to members, clients, partners, and the broader transatlantic business community.

As Marketing Communications Intern, you will assist the Marketing Communications Manager and support both the Marketing Communications Manager and Marketing Communications Coordinator with content creation, event marketing, digital campaigns, website updates, and member communications.

You will help promote GACC South's key areas of work, including events, membership, consulting services, and workforce development programs. This includes creating content around business events, member stories, market entry services, dual education, training programs, and professional development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with digital campaigns for events, membership, consulting services, and workforce development programs
  • Draft and edit content for newsletters, website pages, social media, event promotions, blog posts, and member communications
  • Support regular updates to the GACC South website
  • Help create flyers, graphics, sponsor materials, event signage, and other digital or print assets
  • Support event communication timelines, including invitations, reminders, attendee information, recaps, and follow-up campaigns
  • Assist with social media planning, posting, and basic performance tracking
  • Help organize photos, speaker information, sponsor assets, member content, and communications templates
  • Support on-site event communication needs, including signage, name badges, social media coverage, and attendee support
  • Proofread and format communications to ensure accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment
  • Coordinate with colleagues across the Atlanta, Houston, Austin, Carolinas, and regional teams

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, Event Management, or a related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English
  • German language skills preferred
  • Interest in international business, German-American relations, B2B communications, workforce development, or economic development
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Creative mindset and ability to turn information into clear, engaging content
  • Comfortable working with business professionals, members, and partners
  • Reliable, structured, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools
  • Willingness to occasionally support evening or weekend events
  • Valid U.S. work authorization

Nice to Have

  • First experience in marketing, communications, events, customer service, or project coordination
  • Experience with newsletters, websites, LinkedIn, or event campaigns
  • Familiarity with CRM, email marketing, social media scheduling, or event management tools
  • Interest in photography, video, or visual storytelling
