Job description

Overview

Are you an experienced construction modeler with expertise in Trimble Business Center (TBC) and heavy civil construction workflows that include machine control? As a Geomatics Modeler, you will develop, maintain, and support construction models used for machine control, survey layout, grade verification, quantity tracking, and project execution. Working alongside project teams, survey personnel, and engineers, you will help transform engineering deliverables into constructible, field-ready models that support projects from initial mobilization through completion.

What you will be doing
  • Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, shop drawings, RFIs, and engineering design files to develop construction-ready models for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain models in Trimble Business Center, including corridors, finish surfaces, subgrades, utility models, site models, piling models, and borehole-derived undercut models.
  • Collaborate with survey teams, project engineers, and construction personnel to resolve design conflicts, constructability issues, and field-driven revisions.
  • Perform quantity calculations, grade verification, earthwork analysis, and reporting to support project planning and execution.
  • Prepare, organize, publish, and maintain construction deliverables through Trimble Connect and Trimble Works Manager.
  • Support models throughout the project lifecycle, including design revisions, RFI responses, as-built updates, and construction-driven changes.
  • Analyze land readings, contract specifications and industry regulations to model project layouts for one or more project sites in a division.
  • Conduct topographic and cross-section surveys to support planning, design, materials and cost projections for the project management team.
  • Assist in the evaluation of potential dimensions and other field problems.
  • Assist with conducting quantity calculations as required.
What we are looking for
  • Advanced Trimble Business Center (TBC) experience.
  • High School Diploma / GED required. Technical degree, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, engineering technology, construction management, or related field preferred.
  • Construction technology, surveying, engineering technology, geomatics, or related education preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, machine control, construction modeling, surveying, or related geomatics disciplines with demonstrated experience developing construction-ready models.
  • LSIT certification is beneficial but not required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Advanced experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC), including the development and maintenance of construction models for machine control, survey layout, grade verification, and construction operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with project engineers, survey managers, superintendents, project management teams, and construction personnel.
  • Experience working with engineering design data from Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, MicroStation, or similar platforms. Ability to extract, interpret, validate, and convert design information into constructible field-ready models.

 Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC)
  • Experience with Rockpile Solutions (preferred, not required)
  • Experience with Trimble Connect
  • Experience with Trimble Works Manager
  • Experience supporting machine control systems
  • Survey field experience
  • Heavy highway, bridge, airport, rail, utility, or large civil infrastructure project experience
