Human Geographer - Mid-Level - TS/SCI

Location: Springfield, VA

Experience Level: Level 3, Middle (5-10 years)

Required Clearance: Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

Role Description

We are presently identifying candidates for the following position: Human Geographer - Mid-Level. A Human Geographer (HG) applies an understanding of geography, research, GIS, data conflation, and management skills to produce a broad array of human geography products including attributed data, maps, and written reports. Production phases for HG projects and products may include research, discovery, evaluation, extraction, creation, geo-enabling, quality control/review, metadata attribution, source citation, service enabling and dissemination.


Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active Top-Secret/SCI security clearance at time of application and willingness to complete a CI poly upon request.
  • Relevant background via one of the following pathways:
    • High School diploma and 5-10 years of specialized professional work experience in human geography data research and collection, compiling and organizing statistical data into tables compatible with ArcGIS, participating in quality control checks, geospatial analysis, and/or international regional/functional expertise.
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2-7 years of specialized professional work experience in human geography data research and collection, compiling and organizing statistical data into tables compatible with ArcGIS, participating in quality control checks, geospatial analysis, and/or international regional/functional expertise.
    • Master's degree in relevant field and one year of specialized professional work experience in human geography data research and collection, compiling and organizing statistical data into tables compatible with ArcGIS, participating in quality control checks, geospatial analysis, and/or international regional/functional expertise.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant software applications such as ESRI products (ArcPro, ArcMap), SOCET GXP, QGIS, Remoteview, or similar electronic light table applications, GRiD, DVOF, IGW, GAIT etc.; previous GEOINT production experience preferred.
  • Experience using feature layers (shapefiles), raster data (imagery/DEM), geodatabases (GDB, FDB), cartographic products, and safe data handling and storage procedures.
  • Ability to produce GEOINT products to NGA standards and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual language capabilities.
  • NGA College courses and certifications.
  • Preferred candidates should have completed relevant Formal/Advanced Military Training (Tech School, Advanced Individual Training, A School, or other MOS/AFSC/Rate granting equivalent) or have a current GEOINT Professional Certification-Foundations (GPC-F).
  • Experience with Python scripting.

Work Environment

Work is within a team environment and will be conducted on site in Springfield, VA.
