Office Assistant, Adult Education & Literacy
Position Description
The office assistant will support the director, coordinators, instructors, and students in the effective implementation of Adult Education programs.
This part-time, non-benefited position will be responsible for the following duties:
  • General office and clerical duties including answering phones, responding to emails/texts, and greeting students
  • Provide admission and enrollment information to potential student
  • Accurately enter, update and manage student and program data
  • Assist with orientation sessions and proctoring assessments
  • Assist with the planning and execution of departmental event
  • Help connect students with internal and external resources that provide wrap-around support services
  • Other duties as assigned

Average hours per week will not exceed 27 and pay will be $18.00/hr. This position will provide support to staff, instructors, and students during daytime hours from 9am - 2pm Monday through Friday. Funding for this position has been secured through June 30, 2027.
The Paid Leave for All Workers Act allows part-time employees to earn 1 hour of PTO for every 40 hours worked. For more information on this benefit, please visit IL Department of Labor, PFLA Act.
Position Requirements
Requirements include the following:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Competency in Microsoft Office
  • Experienced in maintaining student databases
  • Ability to work well with a diverse population of student from a variety of disadvantaged backgrounds
