Position Overview:
Group Leaders at McKinney Specialty Labs lead a team to meet the expectations of our clients by efficiently generating defensible data on time. The Metals Group Leader will act as liaison between the Metals team and the client program managers, operations leadership, and clients. The Metals Group Leader will support direct reports through problem solving and subject matter expertise. The Group Leader for Metals will report to the Director of Chemistry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
ยท Personnel supervision and management, time management, and operational efficiency using the framework of the McKinney Specialty Labsโ Values
ยท Conflict resolution, personnel skills development and team building
ยท Accurate and timely communication with internal clients
ยท Project scheduling
ยท Preparation of data summaries for inclusion in client reports
ยท Sample and Standard Preparation, as needed
ยท Occasional split shift and/or weekend duties
ยท Instrument calibration and maintenance
ยท Troubleshoot and problem solve
ยท Write and update related SOPs
ยท Maintain adequate consumables and parts for analyses
ยท Foster a positive environment for lab techs and analysts, allowing opportunities for growth and development
ยท Maintain organized records of sample preparation and analysis and equipment maintenance
ยท Communicate with client program managers regarding clientsโ questions or concerns
ยท Initiate and address non-conformance issues
ยท Oversee projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
ยท Comply with McKinney Specialty Labsโ Quality Assurance Program and other policies
ยท Ensure staff comply with McKinney Specialty Labsโ Health and Safety Plan
ยท Review of customer data to ensure its compliance with McKinney Specialty Labsโ QMS, reference methods, and the customerโs requirements
Qualifications:

ยท Bachelorโs degree in chemistry or equivalent experience
ยท Well versed in majority of the Metals methods
ยท Demonstrated ability to understand the underlying physical or chemical principles that underpin the assays being performed
ยท Skilled in ICP-MS operation, problem solving and maintenance
ยท Demonstrated ability to organize, communicate, and facilitate priorities to staff in an effective manner
ยท Demonstrated experience handling non-routine samples and managing an effective workflow in a department (this includes managing hours, machine time and logistics for numerous assays)
ยท Demonstrated experience with scheduling and coordination of schedules and deadlines across multiple groups and disciplines
ยท Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure during stressful times
ยท Strong communication skills with the ability to break down barriers to organizational communication
ยท Strong conflict resolution skills
ยท Strong problem-solving skills
