Job Summary
R & May Transportation is seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to join our growing team.

We are looking for a motivated school transportation professional who can take ownership of daily operations and help lead our drivers, aides, dispatchers, and transportation staff.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in the school bus industry and understands the challenges of managing daily routes, staffing, vehicle assignments, school district communication, and unexpected operational issues.
This is a leadership opportunity for someone who can think quickly, solve problems, hold employees accountable, and keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily AM and PM school transportation operations
  • Ensure routes are properly staffed with drivers and aides
  • Manage driver call-outs, open routes, and substitute coverage
  • Coordinate driver, aide, and vehicle assignments
  • Monitor routes, delays, breakdowns, and service issues
  • Communicate with school districts, drivers, aides, and management
  • Supervise and support dispatch and transportation staff
  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, and performance
  • Assist with routing, scheduling, and route efficiency
  • Coordinate vehicle availability with fleet and maintenance departments
  • Handle transportation complaints and operational concerns
  • Assist with accidents, incidents, and safety-related matters
  • Coordinate field trips and additional transportation
  • Ensure company policies and applicable school transportation requirements are followed
  • Identify operational problems and implement solutions
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of school bus transportation experience required
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
  • Previous experience in transportation management, dispatch, routing, operations, or driver supervision
  • Strong knowledge of daily school bus operations
  • Experience supervising drivers, aides, dispatchers, or transportation employees preferred
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with routing, GPS, or transportation software preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Significant school transportation experience may be considered in place of a degree
  • CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements is a plus
