Job description

THIS POSITION IS SET TO WORK OVER NIGHT AND WEEKENDS AND SERVICE ALL GARAGES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEย 
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field. Four years of progressively responsible experience in core transportation operations are required. Two of the four years should be in a supervisory capacity. Must have knowledge of industry standard bus operations procedures and service requirements, emergency and safety procedures, and service equipment.ย  Must have ability to perform well given tight deadlines, extreme pressure, and adverse conditions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The ability to communicate well with union representative is required.ย  Must be familiar with transit software and use personal computer and associated software at intermediate level.ย  Directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of a degree.ย 
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS:ย The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants' knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.

SUMMARYย 
The Superintendent of Bus Transportation directs all Transportation related work and activities for the assigned division.ย Ensures and maintains optimal service performance and identifies and resolves service issues.ย  The Superintendent implements and delivers positive outcomes pertaining to the effectiveness of all bus transportation service delivery.ย  Responsible for delivery of optimum customer service, workforce productivity labor relations, cost performance, and other service improvement activities.ย  Works in partnership with other departments across the agency. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESย 
1. Manages the daily operations of the bus operations service delivery functions for assigned division to ensure all services are being operated on schedule, on-time garage departures, and customers are being provided with safe, reliable, and courteous service.ย Makes sure all administrative business functions and processes are being performed.ย ย 
2. Monitors and evaluates staff performance and provides feedback, coaching, positive discipline, and other mechanism to identify performance improvement requirements, and to further develop employee skills.ย 
3. Tracks, complies, analyzes, and reports on bus service delivery key performance indicators, including bus operator performance reports and handles interdepartmental issues.ย  Creates and maintains an environment focused on safety and positive labor relations.ย 
4. Oversees the daily division of dispatch staff and maintains close communication with staff of other service operations sectors as necessary to ensure a safe and efficient bus service operations.ย 

5. Performs other related duties as assigned.ย
