Job description

Position Summary
Great States Construction, a leading commercial general contractor based in Fargo, ND, is seeking a driven and organized Project Manager to lead multifamily and commercial construction projects in the St. Paul/Minneapolis market. This individual will partner closely with senior leadership and field teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. This role is ideal for a project manager ready to take ownership of projects and drive successful outcomes while continuing to grow into a senior leadership position. This role will report to the Senior Project Manager.
Project Portfolio
  • Ground-up multifamily and commercial construction projects
  • Typical project sizes ranging from $1MM-$50MM
  • Opportunity to grow into larger-scale developments

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Own project schedules, budgets, and cost tracking
  • Lead subcontractor coordination and procurement
  • Support subcontractor negotiations and contract execution
  • Monitor project financial performance and support forecasting efforts
  • Partner with Superintendent to drive field execution
  • Provide coordination and direction to project team members, including APMs or project support staff (as applicable)
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Assist in maintaining project budgets, including cost forecasting and variance tracking
  • Participate in client and OAC meetings
  • Drive alignment between field and office teams
  • Identify and escalate risks with support from senior leadership
  • Support successful project closeout

Qualifications
  • 5 -8 years of construction project management experience with exposure to multi-family and commercial projects.
  • Experience on projects in the $1MM-$50MM range preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and cost control
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with increasing responsibility and complexity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with construction technology tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Experience with Procore (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar software.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to professional growth.
