Role Overview

TheVice PresidentforTotal Rewards will lead the organizations compensation and benefits strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, and partner with General Dynamics Corporate and other GD business units on Corporate-wide initiatives. This leader will also oversee incentive programs and merit cycles, manage enterprise-wide wellness initiatives, leaves of absence, paid time off and recognition programs and routinely evaluate market intelligence on industry metrics and compensation trends. This role will serve as a key partner to finance and business leaders to ensure rewards align with organizational strategy and priorities.

This role strategically integrates essential functions under total rewards:

Compensation: Design and maintain competitive compensation frameworks to include salary structures, incentive frameworks and coordinating executive compensation. Direct merit, promotion and short and long-term incentive planning, governing bonuses and performance-based rewards aligned with business outcomes. Conduct benchmarking analysis and compensation trend reporting to ensure decisions are data-driven, equitable and strategically aligned.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Program Development

  • Design and implement rewards strategies, setting long-term vision for compensation, benefits, wellness, and recognition programs

  • Partnering with General Dynamics benefits on enterprise-wide programs

  • Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership on rewards philosophy, market trends, and strategic talent investment

  • Enforce compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Champion wellness programs that support employee wellbeing and engagement

  • Analyze programs routinely to ensure we remain competitive in acquiring and retaining top talent

Compensation

  • Design and maintain well-defined job families and compensation frameworks that ensure competitiveness and internal equity

  • Govern incentive plans to include bonus frameworks and performance-based rewards aligned to business outcomes

  • Lead benchmarking and associated analysis to ensure compensation decisions are data-driven, equitable and aligned with business needs

Workplace Accommodations

  • Manage workplace accommodations efforts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws (e.g., ADA) while fostering organizational agility.

  • Proactively address employee accommodation needs and implement innovative solutions to remove barriers to productivity and inclusivity.

Recognition & Engagement

  • Lead and refine the employee recognition program to honor outstanding employee contributions aligned with the company culture and values.

  • Consult with internal stakeholders on innovative approaches to address enterprise-wide engagement strategies.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience managing large-scale Total Rewards programs

  • US Person

  • Deep knowledge of compensation and benefits strategies and related compliance requirements

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in HR, Organizational Leadership, or a related discipline.

  • Experience leading enterprise-wide benefits, compensation, and employee recognition programs.

  • Background in cross-functional collaboration for large, dispersed, or global enterprises

Skills & Competencies:

  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to address sensitive matters confidentially and diplomatically.

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills; able to guide data-driven improvements.

  • Forward-thinking and agile, with the ability to balance compliance needs with creative solutions.

  • Proven leadership skills, with experience mentoring, inspiring, and scaling high-performing teams.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $267,550 - $322,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
