OVERVIEW   
General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) is a proud and an approved DoD SkillBridge Industry Partner.  SkillBridge is an excellent opportunity as you plan for your life after the military. This program is open to any rank, enlisted or officer.    Skillbridge is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last six months  of service for up to 180 days.
 
You may be eligible to participate in SkillBridge if you:   
  • Have 180 days of service or fewer remaining prior to your date of discharge and you have at least 180 continuous days of active service.
  • Obtain  written authorization and approval from your unit commander to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the internship.
  • Will receive an honorable discharge.
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Agree that participation in SkillBridge can be terminated at any time by the service if mission requirements dictate.
Our 90 to 180-day internship assignments provide real-world exposure to day-to-day activities in departments and hands-on training opportunities to re-skill and up-skill. Participants are not eligible for compensation from GDLS, as they continue to receive DOD compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. Service members receive supervision and mentorship from experienced professionals in respective fields, are included as part of the team within the department.

OBJECTIVE
SkillBridge program participants will receive on the job training and job-shadowing opportunities to gain skills to meet the specific needs of the organization and will be prepared to meet the GDLS mission to provide innovative design, engineering, technology, production, and full life-cycle support for land combat vehicles around the globe. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, mentoring, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on GDLS leadership expectations, company history, customer / stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.
