Job description

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Security Specialist - Entry Control. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative tasks to support security department functions
Identifies, prioritizes and schedules work assignments that impact internal programs
Creates and maintains accurate records as assigned by management
Fabricates, issues and receives company identification badges and maintains database accuracy
Performs duties in an industrial security office to process and maintain personnel security clearances for employees and consultants
Interviews employees and consultants to verify accuracy of data and assists in the completion of government personnel security questionnaires and related documents
Processes incoming and outgoing classified visit arrangements and facility security verifications as required
Verifies clearance and safeguarding ability of associate contractors and subcontractors
Processes initial and updated security container documents and controlled area access lists
Investigates and reports database and file discrepancies to management
Audits and controls classified data and establishes a tracking methodology while keeping management informed of any deficiencies
Ensures all required security-related paperwork is completed, filed and distributed properly
Schedules security awareness briefings and educational training
Provides instruction and assistance to all personnel in the conduct of security administration activities
Participates in recurring government security audits
Reviews required company and government security records and reports discrepancies to immediate supervision
Responds to routine employee security matters and refers more complex issues to appropriate security supervision
Maintains a computerized document control system, a periodic review system and tracks status
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to pass all pre-screening requirements
Ability to effectively document actions and circumstances
Good computer skills including standard business applications
Good ability to anticipate potential problem areas and resolve issues
Clear understanding of policies and procedures including the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual
Ability to follow instructions and guidance and possesses exceptional organizational skills
Good customer service skills and ability to work independently
Ability to maintain professional demeanor and behavior
Ability to be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality
Ability to actively participate within the security team and display positive behaviors
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Personnel Security Clearance up to and including the Top Secret level and required special program access with polygraph, if applicable
Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
