Job description

Materials Manager

The Materials Manager will lead an organization focused on the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of wing-to-wing materials processes. They will partner with the value stream leaders to develop a customer-focused environment that maximizes on-time delivery while minimizing inventory. This role will be responsible for the Component sites in the Gas Value Stream including Metem, Bangor, and Forrester.

Job Description

  • Lead a materials team in materials planning, inventory, production control, and procurement requirements, demonstrating strong integration with manufacturing operations teams and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ensure that standard materials processes and standard KPIs are used to provide the best delivery with the lowest inventory cost for the assigned value stream (Lean)
  • Support the SIOP process: contribute to material procurement timing, order release timing requirements, available capacity, and lead-times
  • Lead capacity requirements planning (CRP) processes by ensuring the gathering and loading information into planning tools, analyzing data, and providing regular updates
  • Ensure that the master schedule and production schedules are synchronized using ERP and other planning tools. Ensure that training and skills necessary to use planning tools are provided and tools are monitored for appropriate use
  • Report and monitor materials-related KPIs: inventory balance, inventory turns, on time to promise, on time to need, system health & usage, master data adherence. Establish the use of key metrics in a metric hierarchy to ensure all materials-related activities are meeting expectations
  • Lead and monitor all the logistics activities such as incoming receipts, days to stock, inventory accuracy (cycle counts), and shortages
  • Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment. Use experience and expertise to solve problems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing / supply chain
  • 2+ years of experience specifically in material planning / scheduling function
  • Proven capability with materials management disciplines including S&OP
  • 15% travel domestically and internationally
