Job description

Position Summary/Purpose:

The GCU Hotel, Travel & Event Scheduling Associate will assist with GCU Hotel front desk arrivals/departures, booking Discover GCU visitor travel and monitoring flights to ensure an exceptional experience for all Discover GCU visitors

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must be available to work the hotel front desk overnight shifts from 11pm - 7am occasionally
  • Assists with booking Discover GCU guest arrival and departure flights, ensuring appropriate flight times based on Discover GCU event parameters
  • Assist with monitoring flights for changes that could affect the visitor itinerary
  • Greets hotel guests, responds effectively to guest concerns and requests. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Manage room inventory and determine rooms for incoming guests
  • Manage check in/out procedures
  • Assist guests with dining and activity recommendations
  • Coordinate shuttle service for guests with attendance luggage
  • Assist guests with general inquiries
  • Provide as needed support to GCU Hotel departments and teammatesto ensure an exceptional stay experience

Qualifications:

  • Local students available to work during breaks strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of one year experience in customer service or hospitality industry.
  • Always provides a professional image through appearance and dress.
  • Able to work well independently with little supervision.
  • Promote positive relationships in communication and cooperation with all coworkers and guests.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure room cleanliness standards are met.
  • Ability to learn and follow all safety, emergency and accident prevention procedures.
  • Must be fluent in English, ability to read and write.
  • Must be able to have flexible schedule, which includes nights, weekends and holidays if needed.

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
