What is a Gaussian Splatting job?

A Gaussian Splatting job typically involves rendering 3D scenes using point-based representations with anisotropic Gaussians. This technique is used in graphics and visualization to efficiently approximate surfaces and lighting effects. Professionals in this role may work on optimizing algorithms, improving rendering quality, or integrating Gaussian splatting into real-time applications like games and simulations. Strong skills in computer graphics, math, and programming are often required.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Gaussian Splatting position, and why are they important?

To excel as a Gaussian Splatting specialist, candidates typically need a strong background in computer graphics, computational mathematics, and 3D rendering, often supported by an advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, Python, and specialized graphics libraries (e.g., CUDA, OpenGL, Vulkan), as well as experience with neural rendering frameworks, is commonly required. Creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and strong collaboration skills are key soft attributes in this role. These skills are critical for developing efficient, high-quality neural rendering solutions and for integrating cutting-edge visualization techniques into real-time graphics pipelines.

What are the typical daily tasks of a Gaussian Splatting specialist within a visual computing team?

A Gaussian Splatting specialist typically spends their days designing and implementing algorithms for real-time neural scene rendering, testing rendering performance on various hardware, and troubleshooting graphical artifacts or efficiency bottlenecks. Their work often involves close collaboration with software engineers, 3D artists, and machine learning researchers to optimize the integration of splatting techniques into existing graphics pipelines. Regular responsibilities may also include participating in code reviews, contributing to technical documentation, and staying updated on the latest advancements in 3D rendering technology. This collaborative, dynamic environment offers the opportunity to work on visually impactful projects and influence cutting-edge visualization tools.

Full Stack Enginer / Web Developer (Real-Time 3D, AI-Native)

NOVΛVERSE

New York, NY

$50K - $120K/yr

Full-time

Posted 26 days ago

Job description

NOVAVERSE is an international technology company focused on creating compelling digital products for architecture, design, and the unbuilt environment. We are pioneering the future of real-time 3D experiences by fusing cutting-edge generative Machine Learning with immersive rendering technologies. Our projects span architectural visualization, software, interactive simulations, and creative media. We have studios in New York, London, and Barcelona.

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer who is a creative problem solver and systems thinker. You don’t just write code — you design intelligent systems that connect web platforms, real-time 3D engines, and cloud infrastructure to deliver seamless, high-fidelity interactive experiences.

Your Role at Novaverse

You will design, build, and maintain complex web-based platforms that integrate directly with Unreal Engine and Pixel Streaming, enabling real-time 3D interaction from browser to cloud to offline environments.

Working closely with 3D artists, Unreal developers, designers, and product leaders, you will help bring advanced visual and interactive experiences to life. You will embrace AI-assisted development tools to accelerate experimentation, reduce boilerplate, and focus on solving higher-level technical and creative challenges.

What You’ll Do

Frontend & Visualization

  • Build polished, responsive web interfaces using React, TypeScript, WebGL, and Three.js.
  • Implement advanced visualisation features and interactive 3D content streaming.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure visual clarity, performance, and intuitive user experience.

System Integration

  • Develop middleware connecting web clients, Unreal Engine instances, and Pixel Streaming servers using WebRTC and WebSocket protocols.
  • Manage real-time user sessions, control commands, and state synchronisation across systems.

Backend & Cloud Architecture

  • Design and maintain backend services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Firebase, Cloud Functions, and Firestore.
  • Build secure, scalable APIs using Node.js and/or Python to support real-time data exchange and Unreal integrations.
  • Implement authentication, content management, and offline-capable deployment & workflows using Firebase Authentication, Cloud Storage, and Hosting.
  • Use Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, or App Engine to orchestrate event-driven communication between web platforms and 3D rendering environments.
  • Ensure systems support both cloud-based and offline (local / LAN) for on-site Unreal deployments or LAN-based streaming.

AI-Native Development

  • Use AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor to speed up prototyping, refactoring, and documentation.
  • Contribute to an AI-first engineering culture focused on quality, experimentation, and rapid iteration.

Emerging 3D Technology

  • Integrate Gaussian Splatting and other next-generation rendering techniques for dynamic 3D visualisation in the browser.
  • Collaborate closely with Unreal and 3D teams to optimise performance and rendering fidelity.

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, dockerized deployments, and automated testing workflows.
  • Improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability across distributed systems.
  • Work cross-functionally, from design and 3D to engineering, to prototype, test, and refine new interactive platforms and tools.
What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years’ experience as a full stack developer in modern web environments, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and modern frontend architecture.
  • Strong understanding of WebGL, Three.js, and real-time 3D rendering on the web.
  • Experience integrating web platforms with Unreal Engine and Pixel Streaming.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Firebase, Cloud Functions, Firestore, and Cloud Run.
  • Backend development experience using Node.js and/or Python.
  • Experience designing APIs and managing authentication, real-time messaging, and media streaming systems.
  • Proven ability to build cloud-integrated systems that also support offline or local deployments.
  • Regular use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
  • Strong design sensibility with the ability to build visually refined, user-centred interfaces.
  • Experience with Gaussian Splatting or similar real-time 3D reconstruction technologies is a strong advantage.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, equity and benefits package.
  • Opportunities to work on cutting-edge, high-visibility projects in architectural visualization and interactive systems.
  • A collaborative, creative work environment with room for innovation and growth.
  • The chance to influence project direction and improve overall pipeline efficiency.
  • Regular team outings and studio socials
  • Monthly wellness budget to support physical and mental wellbeing
  • Ongoing training, development, and progression opportunities
