POSITION AVID TUTOR/SUBSTITUTE 2026-2027 SY
REPORTS TO: CAMPUS ADMINISTRATOR
SALARY RANGE: $16.50 (first time tutor)
$17.50 (returning tutor)
WORK DAYS: TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS - 10AM-3:15PM
LOCATION: GATEWAY COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL, GEORGETOWN TX
What is AVID?
AVID is an elective class offered to high school students to help prepare them for college by teaching them study and organizational skills.
Job Description:
  • Tutors will work with small groups of high school students under the supervision of an AVID teacher during the school day.
  • Tutors serve as guides and facilitators of students through questioning, writing, thinking, and discussing.

AVID Tutor schedule:
Tutoring opportunities are Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00 am 1:45 pm September through May
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled at a local college or university preferred. No specific content knowledge is required.
  • Attend 16 hours of AVID tutor training held by the district in the fall and spring.
  • Pass a fingerprinting and criminal history check.
  • Provide own transportation to tutoring site.

Experience:
  • Tutoring: 1 year (Preferred)
