About The Role:

In your role as a Performance Engineer, you willย be responsible forย analyzing, modeling, andย optimizingย aircraftย and propulsion system performance across the full flight envelope. This position requires strongย expertiseย in gas turbine engine cycles, aerodynamics, and thermodynamics to supportย aircraftย development, certification, and operational excellence.ย 
Responsibilities:
  • Perform thermodynamic cycle analysis of turbofan engines, evaluating thrust, TSFC, efficiency, operability margins, and performance across the flight envelope.ย 
  • Develop,ย validate, andย maintainย propulsion system performance models to supportย aircraftย integration, certification, and customer deliverables.ย 
  • Generateย aircraftย and engine performance data for flight manuals, flight computers, and executive-level program assessments.ย 
  • Conduct runway and mission performance analysesย 
  • Support engine-airframe integration efforts, including takeoff thrust optimization and safety-focused performance methodologies.ย 
  • Author and execute flight test plans to evaluate propulsion robustness, operability, and early design maturity.ย 
  • Contribute to advanced combustion and fluid dynamics modeling effortsย 
  • Support experimental testing efforts including aeroacoustics, flow visualization (Schlieren), wind tunnel testing, and telemetry data analysis.ย 
  • Play a key role within ourย HEAT (High-Enthalpy Airflow Test) facility, including sizing, analyzing, andย optimizingย this world-class test infrastructure.ย

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.ย 
  • Strong foundationย in thermodynamics, compressible flow, gas turbine engine cycles, and aerodynamics.ย 
  • Experience with propulsion performance modeling andย aircraftย performance analysis
  • Proficiencyย in MATLAB andย Pythonย 
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret andย validateย complex engineering data sets.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineeringย with focus on propulsion, aerothermodynamics, or combustion.ย 
  • Experience supporting turbofan engine development programsย 
  • Background in CFD, Large Eddy Simulation (LES), or reduced-order modeling techniques.ย 
  • Exposure to experimental aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, or high-speed flow diagnostics.
  • Strong systems-level thinking with attention to both detailed analysis and program-level impacts.ย ย 
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical initiatives or cross-functional collaboration.ย 
$91,800 - $187,450 a year
