Overview

CTG is seeking to fill an Application Performance Engineer opening for a client in Redwood Shores, CA.

Location: Redwood Shores, CA

Duration: 12 months

Description

We're looking for strong application developers/compiler developers to be part of our joint venture connecting the Oracle database with LLVM compiler technology to achieve optimal performance. The job will require analyzing performance issues, identifying opportunities to achieve better performance through new algorithm and/or exploiting processor features and/or exploiting adoption of advanced compiler optimization features, as well as designing and implementing the algorithm to deliver performance gain.

You’ll be working along world class experts to optimize the performance of the most highly used enterprise relational database. Succeeding in this role will provide you with a standout project to showcase, emphasizing a comprehensive set of skills for delivering a large scale, high performance product, using modern LLVM technology.

Required kills

  • Strong performance analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of application and platform specific performance optimization
  • Strong understanding and experience in AI related numerical computing
  • Strong debugging and problem solving skills
  • Experience with C/C++ programming using one of these compilers: GCC, XL C, ICC, CLANG/LLVM, AOCC
  • Experience using UNIX or Linux OS
  • Experience debugging runtime and runtime issues in large scale projects
  • Proven end-to-end compiler optimization experience
  • Knowledge of vectorization techniques
  • Experience with profiling tools
  • Knowledge of system architecture (POWER or x86)

Preferred skills

  • Open-source contributions, system programming, networking (distributed/parallel applications), compiler development are a strong plus.
  • Application performance optimization – investigation & analysis using tools like valgrind, perf, Nectar, PMU, pipestat, nmon

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $70 to $85 hourly. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
