Job description

Pocket FM is the worldโ€™s largest audio-series platform, where powerful stories travel effortlessly across languages, cultures, and continents. From India and the US to Europe and beyond, we are redefining how stories are created, discovered, and experienced across the globe, without screens.

At our core, we are an AI-powered entertainment company with a deeply human-first philosophy. We believe technology should amplify creativity. Our proprietary AI systems work alongside writers, voice artists, and creative teams to help stories scale globally, faster, smarter, and with cultural depth and emotional integrity intact.

Today, Pocket FM is home to a vibrant community of 250+ million listeners, 300,000+ creators, and 100,000+ audio series. With over 140 billion minutes streamed annually, we have emerged as one of the fastest-growing media-tech companies in the world, and we are just getting started. We operate at a massive global scale, but with a startup mindset: curious, fast-moving, and deeply owner-driven. At Pocket FM, teams are encouraged to think boldly, move with intent, and build for long-term impact as we shape the future of audio-first storytelling worldwide.

About the Role

Weโ€™re looking for a Narrative Strategist to operate at the intersection of storytelling, research, and AI-powered content creation. This role is responsible for translating deep narrative understanding into scalable frameworks that improve how we develop, personalize, and produce serialized content.

This is a highly unique role suited for someone with a strong foundation in literature, narratology, or narrative theory, who is equally excited about applying that knowledge to real-world content systems and emerging AI workflows.

You will work closely with Content, Product, and AI teams to define how stories are structured, optimized, and adapted, helping Pocket FM build the next generation of narrative creation at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop structured frameworks for storytelling, including narrative arcs, pacing models, and character systems, that can be applied across large volumes of serialized content
  • Build and refine โ€œnarrative plannersโ€ that map out long-form story development across hundreds of hours of content
  • Partner with writers and content teams to guide story development, ensuring consistency, engagement, and scalability
  • Collaborate with AI and product teams to translate narrative principles into tools, including:
  • AI-assisted writing workflows
  • author style and voice modeling
  • personalization systems for content creation
  • Evaluate and experiment with different AI platforms and workflows to determine best-fit approaches for storytelling
  • Define and operationalize approaches to author personalization, enabling tools to adapt to individual writing styles and voices
  • Act as a bridge between research and execution โ€” bringing academic rigor into practical, production-ready systems
  • Support early-stage experimentation and prototyping, particularly in defining how narrative systems integrate into product workflows

About You

  • Advanced background in literature, narratology, creative writing, or a related field (PhD or equivalent research experience strongly preferred)
  • Deep understanding of narrative structure, storytelling theory, and long-form content development
  • Experience applying narrative principles in a practical setting (content, publishing, gaming, or similar)
  • Strong interest in AI and its application to storytelling and content creation
  • Ability to translate abstract concepts into structured, usable frameworks and systems
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with writers, product teams, and technical stakeholders
  • Highly analytical thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, early-stage problem spaces
