Position: Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Department: Athletics
Status: Full Time
Position Summary:
The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach has the responsibility of assisting the Head Men's Basketball Coach in all aspects of this NCAA Division I men's basketball program, must have a proven record of success coaching at the collegiate level, and be able to adhere to all university, CAA, and NCAA regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Motivate and inspire student-athletes to excel in the classroom and on the field.
  • Successfully research, scout, evaluate and contact prospective student-athletes while operating within the scope of the department, CAA and NCAA regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with other campus departments and university staff in designing comprehensive and positive official and unofficial student/parent visits.
  • Coordinate in mailing and organizing recruiting communication while operating within the scope of the department, CAA, and NCAA.
  • Participate in the continued development and implementation of various camps.
  • Assist in coordination of practice and game preparation and post practice analysis.
  • Assist in developing and training players successfully tactically, technically, athletically, and mentally in a positive environment.
  • Assist in creating scouting reports, post-game match analysis and pregame match preparation.
  • Assist the strength and conditioning coach and head coach in sport science management and implementation.
  • Attend all necessary meetings with student-athletes and personnel internally and externally on behalf of the university and program.
  • Assist in administrative day to day functions of travel, equipment, and budgetary organization and implementation.
  • Assist in all day-to-day functions including student-athlete management, student-athlete welfare management, and overall staff and program development.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of appropriate public relations, fund-raising and promotional activities as necessary.
  • Assist the head coach in building and maintaining working relationships with coaches, administration, and staff on and off campus.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by all Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX and FERPA guidelines.
  • Other job-related duties, activities, and responsibilities may change or be assigned at any time, with or without notice.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Experience competing as a Men's Basketball student-athlete.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, supervisory and administrative skills.
  • Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
  • Ability to teach the game of men's basketball at a high level within a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with video editing and match analysis software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, the internet and social media.
  • Exercise independent and sound judgment when making decisions and solving problems.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays and overnight stays.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with students, athletes, coaches, trainers, officials, university faculty, staff and administration, and the public.
