Job description

Madden's is an award-winning resort, located on more than 1,000 acres, that anticipates the wishes and desires of vacationers and offers them fantastic golf, upscale dining, lakeside spa, tennis, activity programs for children, biking, shopping, and art gallery with painting classes and almost every kind of on-the-water recreation possible in Minnesota, including fishing. Madden’s has distinguished itself by an emphasis on gracious hospitality, quality, and diversity. Our philosophy is simply to provide the best that Minnesota has to offer. Madden’s is currently seeking Security Staff who will maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and employees.

  • Observes persons entering, exiting, or loitering in or around facilities and responds to security related complaints from guests, and employees.
  • Ensures that doors are locked, and property is secure.
  • Responds to accidents, thefts, property loss, and unlawful activities. Documents details and advises management. Maintains logs and reports of all related activities in incident log.
  • Provides security coverage for special events programs.
  • Enforces all rules and regulations set forth by Madden’s.
  • Identifies and corrects any safety hazards or alerts those who can.
  • Performs light maintenance duties including but not limited to changing locks and light bulbs.
  • Deals with the public daily and must be able to interact and protect their guests and the employer's property. Interacts with guests in a courteous and professional manner.  This may include shuttling them from one area to another in the resort.
  • Make periodic patrol tours around buildings and grounds, public areas, guest floors and employee areas to prevent and detect any safety or security hazards, and ensure security of doors, windows, equipment, automobiles, and gates.
  • Reports any unacceptable behavior, accidents, or suspicious persons to the Madden Inn Manager for direction and resolution.
  • Available to direct guests to their rooms.
  • Provide a deterrent against theft and other criminal activity.
  • Will assist the management staff with maintaining order and ensuring that hotel and resort operations run smoothly.
  • Responds to and investigates disturbance complaints and all guest and employee incidents, gathers information, and writes up the incident reports. Properly coordinates these investigations with the resort managers and local law enforcement agencies as appropriate.
  • Responds to emergency medical situations.
  • Checks Fire emergency exits.
  • Checks and report any lighting issues (interior or exterior) needing replacement or improvement.
  • Responds to various security assignments, including security escorts from the pub to the guest’s room.
  • Responds to fire and security alarms and acknowledges fire control panel.
  • Room key assist in guests’ quarters, as well as other secured areas after hours, as directed by Front Desk.
  • Respects signs through resort areas.
  • Performs parking duty as needed.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to deliver a high level of professional standards, with assistance from the Employee Guidelines
  • Knowledge and understanding of the resort as whole.
  • Must be able to answer questions regarding the resort and the Brainerd Lakes
  • Should have a strong sense of multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Great sense of Judgment and decision making skills.
  • Must be able to keep a calm professional manner under stressful situations.
  • Maintains a proactive “Can Do” attitude.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • 1 Year of experience or education preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in multiple outlets and outside around resort, mainly in the evening and into the night.

Physical Demands:

Primarily standing or walking for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours). occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and occasionally lift to 50 pounds.

Expected Hours of Work:

Variable work schedule with weekends included. Must be willing to work overnights.

Travel:

Less than 10% travel required.
