Job description

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate CNC machines and use existing programming to produce tools & parts to dimensional requirements. The ideal candidate will possess several years of CNC operating experience, some exposure to CNC programming, and attributes of a self-starter as this individual will at times work under indirect supervision.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Operate a 5-axis CNC machine
  • Run CNC programs to produce tools & parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements
  • Participate in brainstorming / problem solving with Engineering & Production personnel to solve related problems
  • Perform preventative maintenance to equipment
  • Recommend new technologies for continuous improvement
  • Follow Standard Industrial practices for working with composites & other materials.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications:
Education:
A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years’ Experience: 2-3 years of relevant work experience
Skills:

  • Previous CNC programming experience preferred
  • Understanding of material properties & characteristics
  • Working knowledge of various measuring gages: micrometers, pin gages, dial indicator, screw pitch gage, height gage, and comparator stand/gage
  • Advanced Computer Knowledge
  • Ability to do trigonometry and geometrical math computations
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people.
  • Experience in laminating Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, Kevlar, or other composite material preferred
