Job Title: Compliance GNSS Lab Test Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite)
Duration: 12+ Months


Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled GNSS Lab Test Engineer to support validation of mobile device positioning performance across cellular networks. This role involves working in a lab environment to test, analyze, and ensure compliance of GNSS and hybrid positioning technologies in line with industry and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform validation of GNSS (GPS) and cellular-based positioning performance on mobile devices across multiple carrier networks.
  • Test and evaluate 3GPP-based positioning technologies such as ECID and OTDOA, including detailed analysis of protocol messaging (LPP, SUPL, RRLP).
  • Execute certification test cases related to OTA positioning and emergency services compliance (e.g., E911), ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts for automating test execution, log collection, and result analysis.
  • Automate Android device testing workflows using ADB and contribute to building regression and automation frameworks.
  • Conduct testing using industry-standard wireless test platforms such as Keysight, Spirent, or Rohde & Schwarz.
  • Measure and analyze GNSS performance metrics including time to first fix (TTF), positioning accuracy, and sensitivity.
  • Review test outcomes, identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and report findings to engineering teams.
  • Assist in debugging GNSS-related issues and support device readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as modem and software engineering to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure all testing activities follow established quality standards and organizational procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Master s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 5 years of hands-on experience in mobile device or wireless testing environments.
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP positioning technologies (ECID, OTDOA) and LTE/5G positioning standards.
  • Knowledge of LTE and 5G NR technologies.
  • Experience with emergency positioning validation and certification processes (e.g., E911).
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless/GNSS test equipment such as Keysight, Spirent, or Rohde & Schwarz.
