Familiarity with CAD software, 3D modeling programs like Rhino or SketchUp, and digital rendering tools is highly valued. Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate and accept feedback are important soft skills in this role. This hands-on involvement provides valuable exposure to real-world design challenges and helps you build a diverse skill set for future roles in the field.

Is $20 an hour good for an internship?

For a furniture design internship, $20 an hour is generally considered competitive, especially for entry-level positions that may involve learning CAD software, model making, or design research. Employers often value skills, creativity, and a willingness to learn over age, and internships can be suitable for recent graduates or career changers at age 22.

How to start a career in furniture design?

Starting a career in furniture design typically involves gaining relevant education such as a degree in industrial design, furniture design, or a related field, and developing skills in CAD software, woodworking, and materials.
