Overview
We are seeking a talented Interior Designer to join our growing in-house design team! Be part of the reimagination of our brand as we plan to renovate 1/3 of our portfolio in the next 3 years.
The Interior Designer provides design and support throughout all design phases for designated hotel renovations. Our internal interior design department handles renovations of all hotel areas as scheduled in the yearly capital plan including guestrooms, corridors, restaurants, coffee shops, meeting spaces, public spaces, retail, spas, outdoor areas, pools, etc.
This position is based in Dallas, TX in office at Omni Hotels & Resorts corporate office.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with Senior Interior Designer and/or Vice President of Interior Design and project team on space planning, FF&E selections, design narrative development, presentation content including material/finish boards, rendered elevations, 3D renderings, imagery, concept visuals, signage design, OS&E selections (design focused), etc.
  • Assumes project responsibility for the interior design process on smaller scale projects as part of an individual effort with minimal supervision from Vice President of Interior Design or Director of Interior Design Project Coordination.
  • Produces content for all project ID documents (i.e., FF&E specifications) and construction documentation as part of an individual effort (depending on scale of project) or under supervision of Senior Interior Designer and/or Vice President of Interior Design or Director of Interior Design Project Coordination.
  • Responsible for internal presentation of project design materials to Senior Interior Designer and/or Vice President of Interior Design for review; participates in the presentations to Creative Director and VP of Interior Design.
  • Coordinates design details and drawings with external consultants such as architect, lighting designer, F&B equipment designer, accessibility consultant, etc. (as necessary, based on scale and complexity of a project) under supervision of Senior Interior Designer and/or Vice President of Interior Design and/or Director of Interior Design Project Coordination as part of an individual effort (depending on scale of project).
  • Reviews FF&E and GC submittals (specifically, FF&E shop drawings, CFAs, millwork shop drawings, architectural finishes, lighting submittals, plumbing submittals, etc.).
  • Coordinates with the project managers, purchasing agents, consultants.
  • Reviews and records Purchase Orders.
  • Interacts with General Manager and Executive Team in the field on design related project matters.
  • Conducts preliminary field surveys for project interior design scope verification with Senior project team.
  • Conducts on-site project installs as part of a team or individual effort (depending on scale of project).
  • Develops FF&E and GC punch lists, meeting minutes and field reports under supervision of Senior Interior Designer and or/ Vice President of Interior Design and/or Director of Interior Design Project Coordination.
  • Delegates to, and mentors to junior level staff or interns.
  • Participates in company events, takes initiative, and contributes to the overall culture and success of Omni Hotels & Resorts

Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of experience in an architectural or interior design firm with emphasis on emphasis on all areas of hotel design.
  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited Interior Design program
  • Team player with ability to switch gears easily and multitask.
  • Highly motivated individual who progressively seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to handle shifting priorities, timelines and demands in a fast-paced, deadline driven working environment.
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and mentor others.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Experience designing Axminster carpet.
  • Skilled in FF&E specifications, FF&E matrices, quantity take-offs and matrices.
  • Skilled in custom furniture design, interior elevations, millwork details, sections in AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to work within budget requirements.
  • Travel approximately 10-15% of time.
  • Must be willing to travel via airplane.
  • Daily working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in AutoCad, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, Spexx (or equal specs writing software).
  • Sketch Up (not required but preferred).
  • NCIDQ certification or Professional Licensure is preferred (will compensate for licensure fees and CEUs*)
