Job Description

The Global Functional Safety Manager architects and implements the client's global strategy for functional safety (ISO 26262), in order to secure the client's position among the leaders in the automotive industry in the area of functional safety.

Qualifications

JOB FUNCTIONS (ESSENTIAL)

Establish, implement and maintain the client's global strategy for competency with ISO 26262.

Identify the necessary functional safety processes required for compliance with the state of the art standard (ISO 26262) for all functional areas including engineering, operations, quality, program management, and all other supporting functions.

Develop and maintain the functional safety processes including the necessary guidelines and templates, and incorporate them into the ME's global product creation system (GPEP and GPMS).

Deliver the training on the use and implementation of the functional safety processes.

Establish the customer programs support and compliance strategy including roles and responsibilities for the different functional areas and gain approval for the strategy from senior management.

Own and lead the functional safety Development Interface Agreement with the customers during the program quotation phase, and ensure that the required level of resources is communicated to the functional areas and program management.

Own and conduct the ISO 26262 functional safety audits, confirmation reviews, and functional safety assessments for all relevant customer programs.

Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 for all ME relevant customer programs.

Coach and lead the functional safety engineers' in the customer programs ISO 26262 compliance activities.

Coach the program teams in the implementation of the ISO 26262 as necessary.

Assess the global training needs

Establish a global training plan

Deliver the training to all ME functional areas depending on the required level of competency

Establish the plans for the development of System Elements Out Of Context for all ME critical components.

Establish the guidelines for Software Tools Qualifications for all ME relevant tools and its maintaining

Develop the budget for the functional safety management effort as required

Knowledge and Education

Bachelor or Master in Electrical, Electronics, or Software Engineering or similar subjects / industry

5- 10 years' experience in the design and development of electrical/electronic automotive products

Work Experience

5 years' experience in the development of functional safety relevant product; vehicle level experience with the implementation of functional safety is a plus

5 years' engineering / quality management experience

In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262 with proven experience in the implementation of the standard in automotive programs

Proven expertise in working with major engineering processes including requirements development and management, design verification, and design validation

Proven expertise in the areas of safety analysis for System, Hardware, and Software including FMEA, Common Cause Analysis, Dependent Failure Analysis, FTA, ....

Proven expertise in relevant quality process including change management, configuration management, and issue resolution

Hands on experience in the development of engineering and quality processes

Experience in delivering technical training

Ability to work with all levels of the organization

Program management experience is a plus
