Position Description:
The Director, Consulting Services - Functional Manager will lead one or more functional teams supporting a major federal financial management program. This leader is responsible for ensuring functional excellence, developing high-performing teams, and shaping business process direction.
This position is located in one of CGI Federal's offices in Fairfax, VA, Lebanon, VA, Lafayette, LA or Knoxville, TN; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to work in a CGI Federal office two days per week.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Functional Leadership & Delivery
• Lead functional teams supporting core federal financial processes including GL, AP/AR, budget execution, fixed assets, cost management, and related domains.
• Oversee requirements, process design, configuration, testing, change management, and user support.
• Conduct and facilitate workshops, demonstrations, and business process reviews.
• Provide functional oversight during integration testing, UAT cycles, and readiness assessments.
Team Leadership & People Management
• Build, lead, and grow high-performing functional teams grounded in collaboration, partnership, and accountability.
• Conduct performance reviews, mentor team members, and manage staffing plans.
• Support partner development, onboarding, and continuous learning.
• Lead functional resourcing strategies and ensure optimal talent utilization.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as a trusted advisor to federal leaders on financial processes, functional requirements, and solution options.
• Communicate complex functional topics clearly to both technical and business audiences.
• Collaborate with the PMO, technical leads, and solution architects.
Quality, Governance & Issue Resolution
• Ensure all functional documentation meets federal standards and audit expectations.
• Oversee defect triage, functional troubleshooting, and alignment with technical teams.
• Support compliance, internal controls, and process integrity throughout the program.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Due to the nature of the contract requirements, U.S. citizenship and successful completion of the CGI background check are required prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance.
• 8+ years of experience delivering functional capabilities within large federal ERP or financial modernization programs.
• At least 5 years of experience managing teams.
• Proven people-management experience leading functional or cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of federal accounting, budgeting, and financial operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired qualifications (non-essential):
• Familiarity with SAP ECC or S/4HANA financial modules (FM, GL, AR, AP, CO, FA, etc.).
• Experience working in an Agile or SAFe delivery environment, including incremental delivery, backlog refinement, sprint participation, and cross-team coordination.
• Experience supporting federal transformation or modernization programs.
• Certifications in financial management, project management, SAFe/Agile, or ERP systems.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $143,500.00 - $310,700.00.
