Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You'll Get To Do:
The successful candidate will help drive execution and must be able to effectively communicate with higher-level leadership. You will interface across all elements and sub-elements within Logistics Support as well as coordinate with other program and SDS division leaders. A successful track record of program performance, cost and schedule management, and interpersonal team building skills is highly desired. A good team focus, proactive mindset and willingness to multi-task is important in this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Integrate and manage between program Segments and supporting functional teams by performing tactical day to day operations.
  • Performing work related to planning, monitoring, and controlling work scope within your assigned program area.
  • Review status of projects and budget, manage schedules, assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring and reporting project progress and for intervention and problem solving with senior management and managers.
  • Generating Change Control Board packages and Budget Change Requests in coordination with CAMs and WPLs and support briefings to the appropriate review boards.
  • Maintaining consistency and high quality of project management work products.
  • Team building.
  • Contribute to developing new concepts, techniques, and standards; serve as the organization's subject matter expert; perform complex tasks with demonstrated skill; and communicate technical approaches and findings clearly and effectively.
  • Develops innovative solutions to complex problems, applying ingenuity while ensuring each solution aligns with organizational objectives.
  • Execute complex assignments independently with minimal direction, exercising broad latitude to define objectives and determine appropriate approaches.
  • Make decisions that have long lasting impact on the organization's direction, ensuring outcomes that avoid costly resource waste and protect customer satisfaction.
  • Consults with management and serves as the organization's external spokesperson on major policy, plan, and objective matters, advising senior leadership and customers.
  • Background/experience with of the defense acquisition process/phases.
  • Experience developing and executing formal Standard operating procedures (SOP) for program events
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production.
  • Experience with implementing and using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools, practices, and methods.
  • Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Principal Project Manager: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; master's degree and 3 years' experience; PhD and 1 years' experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 1 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • Sr Principal Project Manager: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience; master's degree and 6 years' experience; PhD and 4 years' experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • Must be a U.S citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Demonstrated track record/ experience in project management/ execution and closeout.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and managing projects with many different stakeholders.
  • Experience developing content, packaging, and briefing communication.
  • Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background/experience with of the defense acquisition process/phases.
  • Experience supporting formal entry/exit criteria for program events.
  • Experience supporting formal Standard operating procedures (SOP) for program events.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.

Primary Level Salary Range: $81,400.00 - $122,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $101,400.00 - $152,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
