IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer in our Minneapolis, MN office. As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for providing a high level of leadership, mentoring and training for less experienced staff. This could be technical, project management, marketing or business development in nature.
TECHNICAL AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT PATH
The Senior Electrical Designer will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for moderate to complex projects, and lead design efforts with limited support required from senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. They will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include project management, engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. Additional responsibilities will include working within the project's monetary budget, assisting in training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
• Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
• Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews
• Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines
• Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients
• Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly
• Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner
• Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
• Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested
• Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals
• Train, mentor, and motivate staff
• Build, maintain, and develop client relationships
Required Skills/Abilities
• Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
• Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
• Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
• Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
• Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
• Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
• Strong training and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
Education and Experience
• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
OR
• Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
• 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
Physical Requirements
• Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
• Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
• Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

Salary Range $101,000 - $141,000 Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
