About the Company:

Cactus Feeders is an Amarillo, Texas-based cattle company. Originally founded by the Engler Family in 1975, today we operate 15 Feedyards and Outside Cattle Locations producing over a million head of fed cattle annually. The Company has locations throughout the Texas Panhandle, Southwest Kansas, and Eastern Colorado.


Location: Burlington Feeders in Burlington, Colorado

Schedule: Full-Time | Rotational Weekends


About the Position:

As a Feedmill Operator at Burlington Feeders, you will play a critical role in daily feed production by operating and maintaining equipment that produces rations for our cattle. This position involves working with high-capacity systems including boilers, steamers, and flakers. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate feedmill machinery to produce high-quality feed rations as scheduled
  • Monitor and utilize computer systems to batch feed accurately and track performance
  • Perform daily inspections of machinery to identify wear or maintenance issues before failures occur
  • Assist with the upkeep and cleanliness of the feedmill, including regular housekeeping duties and safe organization of tools and materials
  • Maintain accurate records of feed ingredients and inventory levels
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental regulations, including EPA, FDA, and OSHA standards
  • Communicate effectively with Feedmill Manager and crew members to ensure consistent operations
  • Support additional tasks as needed to support feedmill and yard operations


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred, but not required)
  • Prior experience in a feedmill, agricultural, or heavy equipment setting is strongly preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of boilers, flakers, steam systems, and electrical systems is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on machinery
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating heavy equipment
  • Strong work ethic, team-oriented mindset, and clear communication skills
  • Ability to walk, stand, and operate machinery for extended periods in a physically active and fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
