Job description

The Fuller Center is seeking an Assistant Head of School for The Fuller Academy (Grades K–4). The Assistant Head of School serves as the assistant and support leader for all day-to-day school operations. This role assists with the administration, supervision, and coordination of overall functions—including student and staff recruitment, enrollment management, retention, educational programming, curriculum implementation, budget planning, student discipline, and counseling services. The Assistant Head of School promotes a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that supports the mission and goals of the Academy.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily management of school and front office operations; assist HR with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, monitoring performance, and supporting coaching, corrective action, or dismissal processes as needed.
  • Conduct weekly classroom observations focused on instruction, classroom management, and organizational effectiveness; support delivery of professional development, coaching, and technical assistance to teachers and clerical staff.
  • Foster connections with students and families during arrival/dismissal; enforce student disciplinary policies; participate in parent-teacher-student conferences to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Represent the Academy at community activities; build relationships with local network organizations; collaborate with Center Directors across Fuller Center campuses to drive student recruitment.
  • Assist with managing school budgets, supply allocations, and curriculum resources; assist with tracking staff attendance, leave, punctuality, and daily classroom coverage.
  • Ensure accuracy of student records, attendance, assessments, tuition reimbursement, meal counts, and Procare data; assist with preparing monthly status reports for leadership and quarterly updates for marketing.
  • Assist with conducting monthly safety protocols (fire, active shooter, lockdown drills); oversee cafeteria during lunch/recess periods; participate in weekly grade-level team meetings to coordinate field trips, activities, and materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching or school administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of instructional methodology, as well as local, state, and federal education laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to support multifaceted operations, problem-solve, and assist with budget implementation.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Valid School Administrator License.
  • Prior experience utilizing administrative platforms such as PROCARE.
  • Multilingual proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or Russian is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits
