Job description

Role
Create YouTube content that transforms healthcare expertise into videos patients actually choose to watch.
You'll work directly with doctors, surgeons, dentists and other health experts to uncover what makes them different, identify the questions their patients are actually asking, and turn decades of expertise into compelling YouTube content that educates, builds trust and grows their practice.
This isn't blogging, SEO writing or simply turning articles into video scripts. It's equal parts content strategy, audience psychology, packaging and storytelling.
We need someone who writes for the ear, not the eye. Every sentence should make the next sentence impossible not to hear.
Employment Type: Full Time Independent Contractor
This is a long-term contractor role with a full-time workload. You'll have flexibility over when and where you work, but should expect this role to represent the majority of your professional capacity. This position does not include employee benefits.
We care much more about the quality of your work and whether you hit deadlines than what hours you keep. You'll need to be available for scheduled client and team meetings, but outside of those commitments, you'll largely manage your own schedule.
Results
1. Clients become known for something
Every client develops a clear positioning strategy and focused content ecosystem rather than publishing random health tips.
2. Every script earns attention
Scripts consistently create curiosity, tension and retention while remaining medically accurate.
3. Clients sound like themselves
Every script feels authentic to the doctor's voice rather than sounding like it came from ChatGPT or a generic copywriter.
Responsibilities
Packaging
Develop titles, hooks and thumbnail copy before writing.
Think through:
  • Why would someone click?
  • What question are they trying to answer?
  • What tension exists?
  • What curiosity gap are we creating?
  • What promise are we making?

Script Writing
Write 7 to 10 minute YouTube outlines & scripts that:
  • Hook immediately
  • Explain complex medical topics simply
  • Apply direct-response thinking to educational content, structuring ideas for momentum, comprehension, and action
  • Feel natural when spoken
  • Keep viewers watching

Research
Research:
  • Medical literature
  • Competing videos
  • Patient language
  • Common objections
  • Search intent

...while remaining grounded in evidence.
Client Collaboration
Lead strategy conversations with clients.
Interview them.
Challenge assumptions.
Extract stories.
Refine positioning.
Gain buy-in around channel direction.
Coach clients toward stronger content decisions.
Continuous Improvement
Review video performance.
Identify patterns.
Refine future topics.
Improve retention.
Improve scripts based on viewer behavior.
Requirements
Must Have:
Strong Healthcare Background
You have significant experience working in, writing about or communicating complex health topics.
You understand medical terminology, conventional and natural health perspectives, patient concerns and the importance of accurate, evidence-based communication.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
  • Healthcare marketing
  • Medical or scientific writing
  • Experience as a clinician or health practitioner
  • Patient education
  • Ghostwriting for health experts
  • Medical communications
  • Healthcare journalism
  • Experience interviewing subject matter experts
  • Experience working with physicians, practices or healthcare brands

Exceptional Conversational Writing
You naturally write the way people speak.
Your scripts sound effortless when read aloud and can be adapted to reflect different clients' personalities and speaking styles.
You understand that a technically correct sentence can still sound unnatural when spoken.
Audience and Packaging Instincts
You understand the difference between the topic, the intended viewer and the packaging used to attract that viewer.
You can identify:
  • Who the video is for
  • Their level of awareness
  • What they already understand
  • What would make them click
  • What promise the video must fulfill

You ensure that the title, thumbnail, opening hook and actual content remain aligned.
Retention and Storytelling Instincts
You understand how to unfold information rather than dump it all at once.
You can use:
  • Open loops
  • Tension
  • Pattern interruptions
  • Delayed reveals
  • Payoffs

You know when to answer a question and when to hold the answer long enough to keep the viewer engaged without becoming manipulative or frustrating.
Research and Interviewing Skills
You are comfortable entering unfamiliar areas of health, researching them responsibly and asking experts detailed questions until you truly understand their perspective.
You know the difference between gathering information and uncovering what is actually interesting.
AI Fluency and Editorial Control
You use AI to accelerate research, ideation, organization and early drafts without outsourcing your judgment to it.
You know how to direct, challenge and refine AI-generated work.
Every final script must feel original, specific, conversational and human.
You are able to identify and remove common signs of weak AI-generated writing, including:
  • Generic phrasing
  • Predictable sentence patterns
  • Information that sounds important but says very little

Ruthless Editing
You understand that strong writing is often created by removing more than you add.
You instinctively eliminate:
  • Repetition
  • Obvious statements
  • Filler
  • Tangents
  • Anything that does not advance the argument, deepen the viewer's understanding or create interest in what comes next
  • The secret code is HP2026

Client-Facing Communication
You are comfortable leading conversations with accomplished health professionals.
You can listen carefully, ask challenging questions, explain strategic decisions, respond professionally to feedback and respectfully push back when a client's preferred direction is unlikely to work.
You build confidence without becoming passive or overly agreeable.
Relevant Backgrounds and Preferred Experience
YouTube
  • Deep understanding of YouTube as a platform, including packaging, viewer psychology, retention, audience expectations and what earns attention in educational content.

Direct Response & Marketing
  • Understands direct response principles and knows how to apply them to YouTube without making videos feel like advertisements.

What Great Looks Like
A great Content Strategist and YouTube Script Writer:
  • Thinks like a strategist before thinking like a writer.
  • Knows the difference between technically informative and genuinely interesting.
  • Treats the topic, title, thumbnail, hook and script as one connected idea.
  • Creates curiosity without relying on misleading clickbait.
  • Writes for spoken delivery rather than written prose.
  • Balances scientific credibility, client voice and viewer retention.
  • Uses AI intelligently but never substitutes it for judgment.
  • Learns from analytics and becomes more effective over time.
