GFO Home is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Purchasing. This role will serve on GFO Home's Executive Team as the senior-ranking Purchasing leader across the company. This pivotal position requires a leader who embodies integrity, collaboration, and has the executive presence and operational depth necessary to lead our Purchasing function across multiple markets.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the overarching strategic direction for the Purchasing function in alignment with GFO Home's annual plan and long-term business goals.
  • Mentor, empower, and manage the Directors of Purchasing in both Austin and Dallas divisions to achieve and exceed cost and cycle time goals, establishing clear performance metrics and providing ongoing strategic support and feedback.
  • Conduct thorough market research and consumer analysis to identify opportunities, anticipate trends, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Maintain robust contractor and trade base relationships that ensure competitive market pricing and give GFO Home a distinct competitive advantage.
  • Oversee the accuracy of plans, specifications, material takeoffs, and house and option costs, including management of third-party architecture firms and direction during design development.
  • Lead value engineering efforts and continuously identify opportunities to differentiate GFO Home's plan and option offerings through regular model walks, competitive analysis, and vendor engagement.
  • Lead monthly reporting on base cost fluctuations and maintain visibility into company-wide budgets, pricing, and EPO spend to improve margins and minimize margin erosion.
  • Partner with Vice President peers, the COO, and HR to prioritize department goals, drive cross-functional alignment, and document purchasing processes and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or construction materials and labor, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the homebuilding industry.
  • Strong financial acumen with proven experience in cost analysis, variance reporting, and budget management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing purchasing teams
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
