High-volume, family-owned Toyota dealership in Wood-Ridge, NJ seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead technician productivity, diagnostics, and development in a modern service operation.

About the Dealership

We are a family-owned Toyota dealership located in Wood-Ridge, NJ, operating a high-volume service department with approximately 1,500 customer-pay repair orders per month, plus warranty work. We are expanding into a new, state-of-the-art service facility and investing heavily in people, process, and technology.

Our shop is staffed with factory-trained and certified technicians, and we are committed to raising efficiency, diagnostic accuracy, and overall technician performance.

Position Overview

The Shop Foreman / Technical Lead role is designed for an experienced, senior-level technician who is ready to move into a leadership position and focus on guiding, mentoring, and improving the performance of the entire shop.

This role is not a full-time wrench-turning position. While hands-on diagnostic assistance may be required when needed, the primary focus is on technical leadership, productivity, accountability, and technician development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Diagnostics

  • Serve as the top technical resource for complex diagnostic concerns
  • Assist technicians with advanced diagnostic strategy and problem-solving
  • Ensure all repairs meet Toyota factory standards and quality expectations

Productivity & Efficiency

  • Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and workflow
  • Identify opportunities to improve shop throughput and utilization
  • Work with service management to support fair dispatching and job flow

Training, Mentorship & Certification

  • Mentor and coach technicians to improve skill level and confidence
  • Support ASE and Toyota certification advancement
  • Help elevate technicians toward expert-level capability

Accountability & Quality Control

  • Hold technicians accountable for proper diagnostic processes and repair quality
  • Review comebacks and repeat repairs; implement corrective coaching
  • Promote professionalism, consistency, and pride in workmanship

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Compensation & Opportunity

  • Competitive annual compensation of approximately $90,000–$130,000+, based on experience, certifications, and leadership impact
