Your expertise will help us deliver culturally sensitive therapy and support to individuals facing various mental health challenges, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.

About the Organization

St Paul Counseling Services is a multicultural outpatient psychiatry office located in McAllen, Texas, committed to promoting mental health wellness across diverse communities. Our practice is particularly focused on serving individuals from ethnic and cultural minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and immigrants. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where every team member can thrive while making a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from your home while engaging with patients through telehealth sessions. Our infrastructure ensures that all counselors are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and support to facilitate effective online therapy. You will join a collaborative team that values open communication, continuous feedback, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments that respect and acknowledge each patient's unique cultural background, utilizing standardized assessment tools and frameworks.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to the specific needs of patients.
  • Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions online, utilizing interactive tools to engage clients and promote mental wellness.
  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and psychologists, to ensure a holistic, coordinated care approach for each patient.
  • Provide immediate support and crisis intervention during mental health emergencies, employing de-escalation techniques and creating safety plans.
  • Educate patients and family members about mental health issues, available therapeutic options, and external resources for additional support.
  • Maintain precise and confidential patient records in compliance with state regulations and ethical standards, using our electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Participate actively in case reviews, team meetings, and ongoing training sessions focused on cultural competency and best clinical practices.
  • Stay informed about advancements in mental health research, encompassing culturally relevant practices, therapeutic modalities, and community resources.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our clients represent a rich tapestry of cultural backgrounds, including individuals from Hispanic, African American, Asian, and LGBTQ+ communities. Many of our patients are navigating complex emotional and psychological challenges stemming from their unique life experiences, often exacerbated by cultural stigma related to mental health. As a therapist, you will have the opportunity to create personalized therapy experiences that empower these individuals toward recovery.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Texas.
  • A strong foundation in evidence-based treatment modalities and a profound understanding of mental health disorders.
  • Experience delivering culturally responsive individual and group therapy is essential.
  • Strong crisis intervention abilities, demonstrating composure and effective decision-making in high-pressure situations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, fostering rapport with clients from varied backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and standard computer applications relevant to telehealth administration.
  • Commitment to adhering to ethical practice principles, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • A collaborative spirit, able to work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team setting.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in a telehealth setting is highly preferred but not mandatory.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus, enabling enhanced communication with our diverse clientele.
Compensation and Benefits

The competitive salary for this position ranges from USD 70,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Health insurance coverage along with dental and vision plans.
  • A retirement savings plan featuring employer-matching contributions.
